Sierra Foothills Posted December 14 Posted December 14 If the Niners want to be spiteful and punitive, they can. According to PFT: "Under the CBA, willful refusal to play constitutes a forfeitable breach. That allows the 49ers to recover 25 percent of his $3.35 million signing bonus. Because, however, the deal includes four voidable years, the signing bonus allocation for 2024 is only one fifth of the total amount, or $670,000. So the direct price of refusing to play is $167,500. Throw in the fine for a one-game suspension (if the 49ers do that), and Campbell loses more than $234,000." "And, yes, the Ravens could do the same thing to receiver Diontae Johnson, even though they didn’t pay any of his signing bonus ($17.5 million), his 2024 roster bonus ($3 million), or his pre-trade restructuring bonus of more than $3.2 million. Johnson’s refusal to play could end up being VERY expensive, possibly more than $3 million in all." 1 Quote

chongli Posted Monday at 10:58 PM Posted Monday at 10:58 PM (edited) Minor update: Jay Glazer is reporting that it was SF GM John Lynch who confronted Campbell on the sidelines in the 4th and sent him home. Campbell had refused multiple requests from the coaches to play, starting in the second quarter. Lynch heard the reports and wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth. Lynch, as a former player, knew it would get ugly if he undressed with the other players after the game, so he told him to get dressed and pack up his things and leave. Team security escorted him to the locker room. It's been in sports radio here in SF all day. Players were calling in after the segment with Glazer and saying they never knew Lynch had this fiery alter ego. Greg Papa, a local sports guy, said it was his "Red 47" personality, which contrasts to his usual, calm (?) "Captain America" personality, whatever that means. chongli Posted Monday at 11:10 PM Posted Monday at 11:10 PM And to add, local sports radio here is saying if Campbell had gone in the game, they might have beaten LA in a close game, as the Rams would have had more trouble running up the middle. They desperately needed a Mike. And if they had won, they would be right in the thick of things for the division title. Quote

Sorry , even I’m not an angel , Maybe more of a square now with all 90 degree angles at my age! 😊. Seriously tho , I have to use an iPad because of little feeling in my hands after failed cervical surgery for 5 collapsed discs trapping and damaging my cervical cord. I have to triple read everything or it changes words after I typed them in , and in this case, it chose the wrong spelling. I just installed the latest iOS for iPad Pro and even now with its new “ Siri AI”, it still does this type of crap. Again, apologize for missing that. 😊 1 1 Quote

Eastport bills Posted Tuesday at 12:11 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:11 AM Guy should be blackballed out of the league. It’s a privilege to play in the NFL. Your refusal to play means you don’t value teammates or having a place on the roster. Dedicated, hard working athletes rot in spring leagues and practice squads and never get a shot. Quote
