Returntoglory Posted December 13 Posted December 13 All I can say is WOW! Can you imagine playing with a selfish POS like this guy? I know we had a guy retire in the middle of the game, but to get the call to play and out-right refuse?? https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42942978/niners-say-devondre-campbell-refusal-play-vs-rams-selfish " SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- With injuries to their linebackers accumulating in the middle of the third quarter Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49ers turned to veteran De'Vondre Campbell to enter the game. Campbell declined the invitation. Then, in the fourth quarter, Campbell walked to the locker room with a towel over his head without playing a snap. After the Niners' 12-6 defeat at Levi's Stadium, head coach Kyle Shanahan explained that Campbell elected not to enter the game even though linebackers Dre Greenlaw (knee) and Dee Winters (neck) were dealing with injuries. "He said he didn't want to play today," Shanahan said." Quote

transient Posted December 13 Posted December 13 I think this is actually worse than Vonte Davis. At least Vonte played the first half before realizing he just didn't have it anymore. Might not have been the right way to go about it, but you could at least conceive of the reaction. This dude's just like "Who, me? Nah... Nah, I'll pass." 7 Quote
Captain Hindsight Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Genuinely surprised he is still on the roster as of typing this 3 8 Quote

This dude's just like "Who, me? Nah... Nah, I'll pass." For sure. Vontae tried to go and after two quarters knew he didn’t have what he needed physically/mentally/emotionally to play the game…. He put in the effort and found out he didn’t have enough. It was strange, but understandable. Quote

They lost by 30 something that game, its not like Davis was holding us back. But refusing to play period? thats unforgiveable Edited December 13 by Captain Hindsight 1 Quote
Brand J Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Think he was pouting b/c Greenlaw took his spot when he returned from injury. It’s the only thing that makes sense, he had started all season I believe. 1 2 Quote
L Ron Burgundy Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Agree with all the comments. There's gotta be more to this, just doesn't make sense. Who works their life for something then just backs down? Quote

I'm really surprised more information hasn't been released. Quote

He should have been cut immediately after the game. Im sure his union will back his actions 100% 😏 16 minutes ago, Virgil said: I came into this thread to find out why he refused to play. It’s about the dumbest thing I have heard. his entire career is over now. No one will go Near this guy. Quote

Yep, given the strong reaction by his teammates and the “selfish” comments, it’s not difficult to put two and two together. When Greenlaw had to come out, it was Campbell’s way of saying “nope, you don’t get to go back to me now” and he literally walked away from the team. Quote

SOMEONE will sign this guy regarldess of his discretions. And whomever does, will be an apologist for this person. Edited December 13 by Returntoglory 1 Quote

Nephilim17 Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Love the comments from Kittle and Ward (who played a week after the death of his daughter). If this clown wants to retire in disgrace he's getting his wish. 1 1 Quote
