You like appealing to national opinion, and most thought Allen played better the last 2 match-ups in the playoffs. You can make an argument that it was closer to even - the stats were fairly close, but eye test gives Allen the edge. But no way was Mahomes better in any measurable way. Allen generally outplays in him the regular season games, also. Your comment about Allen "Then again, he’s always been great at demolishing weak defenses/bad teams in the regular season. We’ll see what he does on the big stage this time" was really off base. Allen has been fantastic in the playoffs, and against good & great teams (i.e. like the Lions on Sunday). "Most thought." That could mean two of the three pundits you happened to listen to. Last postseason, Mahomes completed 74% of his passes with a 9.3 average. Allen completed 67% with an average of 4.8. QBR 91.5 vs 66. Allen had fewer passing yds despite 16 more attempts. In the 13 seconds game, Mahomes totaled 447 yds. Allen had 397 on about the same number of throws/rushes. Both had 4 TDs. Mahomes the higher QBR. And Mahomes clearly had a better game in the 2020 AFCC. Quote

Yes - Mahomes was better in '20, when the Bills top 4 receivers all had significant injuries, including a broken leg & an oblique. Your implication that Allen feasts on bad teams and doesn't really show up on the "big stage" was laughable. Sorry 'bout that. Edited Tuesday at 11:33 PM by Success Quote

Their top two WRs (by far) played and put up 165 yds. They did that with significant injuries? Besides, Mahomes has played well in back to back postseasons despite crappy WRs AND weak tackles. Comparing yardage when there’s a huge disparity in passing/rushing attempts, but not when they’re close (13 seconds) is slightly biased. You really can’t make a great case that Allen outplayed him last year (especially when you factor in the fumble on the last drive) or in 2020. You can make a case that Allen outplayed him in the 13 seconds game, but since the numbers are so close, I think Mahomes deserves the nod for a few reasons. 1) He was facing the #1 rated defense. 2) KC’s DBs repeatedly blew coverage or fell down, leaving receivers wide open at the worst possible moments. Allen is playing better than Mahomes right now, but it’s a stretch to say he’s played better in the postseason. We’ll see what happens this year. 14 hours ago, Success said: Your implication that Allen feasts on bad teams and doesn't really show up on the "big stage" was laughable. Sorry 'bout that. I didn’t imply that he hasn’t played well in the postseason. I was just pointing out that this happens pretty much every year. Fans/media hype the Bills and say they’re unstoppable, largely based on blowing out inferior teams. It’s possible that the Bills’ offense is better than ever right now, but their defense looks to be much worse than usual. We’ll see how it shakes out.
