Billsfed1 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 (edited) Am I the only one who thinks this way? I’m a sucker for any franchise that has dedicated fans and hasen’t won a championship. Detroit looks great, if we played them in a Super Bowl (and lost) it would be the first time I’ve watched a Bills Super Bowl in a losing effort and I wouldn’t be crushed, because I would be happy to see another fan base like Detroit’s to get theirs. What’s not to like? They have good players, a likeable coach and a fanbase that deserves it. All that being said…Bills by 10. Those sweet uni’s…and James Cook goes off. Also, McDermott takes pride in his defensive performances and you know that’s not happening twice. Josh’s best performance of his career was last Sunday on the ROAD, against a quality opponent with no help whatsoever. I think this is a “come back to earth” game for both teams but we see these guys again. Edited December 12 by Billsfed1 9 2 Quote
VaMilBill Posted December 12 Posted December 12 I would say I would like to root for Detroit, but after they booed stafford last season during his homecoming, that turned me off. Stafford gave that organization everything he had and was great in the community. He didn’t ask to be traded either. They just traded him to reload. Yet they booed him like he forced his way out of town. Pretty classless of those fans if you ask me. on top of that, I don’t like how dirty they seem to be playing. That is a culture that is instilled from the head coach down. Let’s not forget that Campbell was in NO during bounty gate. so no, for me, I will not pull for the lions at all. 6 1 2 1 Quote
JPL7 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 (edited) I like motor city Dan Campbell a crap ton, so yes they are my go to nfc team currently Edited December 12 by JPL7 2 2 Quote
peterpan Posted December 12 Posted December 12 I never had any problem with the Lions, but my second fav team is the Giants. It’s an oath I swore when they beat the Cheats in the Super Bowl. 19-1 1 1 9 Quote
boyst Posted December 12 Posted December 12 I lived in Dumpoledo (well outside of it) for a long time and have always appreciated the team. I never met many Lions fans, though. Most folks were Browns fans despite Detroit being 30 minutes away, 45 from us. Outside of Michigan there are very, very few Lions fans. Oddly enough this topic came up at work and we researched it to find the Lions social media pages are more followed than the Bills and they have more fans than the Bills. 1 Quote
Warcodered Posted December 12 Posted December 12 abstractly sure from their years of misery and not having won a Super Bowl either. Not really watching their games though, and have been hearing some annoying things lately. A play where you give it to a lineman for him to pass it....really, what because the Bears suck? That's the kind of high on your own hype ***** that wears thin pretty quick. 1 2 Quote
transient Posted December 12 Posted December 12 No. They’re not my second favourite team, eh. What’re’ya, Canadian? Rootin’ for whatever team the bridge (or tunnel) will take ya to? 🤣 2 Quote

QB Bills Posted December 12 Posted December 12 I've never understood the concept of a second favourite team. There is your team who you want to win. Then there are just varying degrees of how much you want any other team to lose. 1 4 1 Quote
nedboy7 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 They have become my first team since our team sucks. 1 3 Quote
hondo in seattle Posted December 12 Posted December 12 (edited) The Detroit Lions have been around for 90+ years but haven't had much success during the Super Bowl era with zero SB appearances. I like their coach and his leadership. A couple weeks ago, Fitz something to the effect that Bills and Lions have the best camaraderie in the league. I respect that. Factoring all this in, of course I cheer for the Lions. But I hope we beat the snot out of them this weekend. And again in the Super Bowl. Edited December 12 by hondo in seattle 3 Quote
Governor Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Yes, they are the NFC team that I hate the least so I usually root for them. 1 Quote

Johnnycage46 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 There are no teams i would be "ok" with having the Bills lose to in the Super Bowl. It would be a crushing feeling. I would prefer it if the Bills can't win it, it would be cool if the SB wasn't played lol. 2 1 Quote
bills742 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 They were a cute story last year but they have become a little annoyingly arrogant. 3 Quote
Another Fan Posted December 12 Posted December 12 (edited) I haven't followed them much this year but yeah I rooted for them in the past to an extent. They were hospitable to the Bills in 2014 and 2022 with letting the team use their stadium after the snowstorms. That and I still recall after the game in 2018 a good number of Bills fans here posted positive stuff about Lions fans in the stadium. Edited December 12 by Another Fan 2 Quote
Harold Jackson Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Not even close. Maybe I'd have more empathy for Detroit if the kept the 80s uniforms. But even now, they are a bottom 4 money maker for NFL. The city of Detroit is destroyed. Only the owners make money. So I doubt nationally that anyone cares that much. I'd be more interested in Chicago getting good. Or Minnesota going back to dark purple and winning. Quote
