finn Posted December 14 Posted December 14 Before you read on, keep in mind the big picture: The Bills will beat NE (twice) and the Jets and still may go all the way, depending on a number of factors. Let's regroup Wednesday or Thursday, after we've digested this debacle of a game on national TV. Because I'm afraid that is what it will be. At home with extra days' rest, key players returning, and just feeling the mojo, the Lions will put on a clinic, scoring at will, mixing up lightning scoring strikes with long, demoralizing drives that eat third and fourth downs like candy. Two 100-yard runners, no pass rush, the secondary exposed... the works. On the other side, with an assigned spy on him all game and a rusty Kincaid and Coleman dropping balls, Allen will look mortal (he's due), throwing at least one pick as he tries to carry the Bills single-handedly. Special teams, with that shining paragon of a coach, Matthew Smiley, will lay an egg, too, just to put a bow on the afternoon. The predictable narrative will follow: America's Team wins, Buffalo exposed, Allen comes down to earth, MVP in question, yada yada. It will be a nightmare. But after a few days, we'll realize the new reality is actually not bad: the second seed (third at the worst), and a healthy team going into the playoffs on a three-game winning streak. If they go all the way, everyone will look back at this game and see it for what it was: a bump in the road to glory. Detroit 53-17. 1 Quote

Or: Goff throws 2 picks, we get a strip sack and the offense continues to be put 30 just like it has all season. Bills 33-24. Edited December 14 by D. L. Hot-Flamethrower 1 Quote

I don't really pay attention to other teams, so it's hard to be objective about the Bills. Or was the Rams game an anomaly? 1 Quote

SydneyBillsFan Posted December 15 Posted December 15 Lions............36 Bills..............27 The Lions are a team with very few obvious weaknesses. They still have the Vikes breathing down their necks in the NFC North, so I see no reason for them to take their foot off the gas. Bills defence will be facing the most potent offence in the NFL and it is hard to see a potentially weakened D offer much resistance. 1 Quote
Mister Defense Posted December 15 Posted December 15 (edited) Last week I said the Bills needed to get "hit in the mouth", as they have not been challenged enough this year and need to toughen up for the playoff run. Hopefully it would come in a win. Their defense did get smashed in the mouth and the Bills lost. This week they need to prove that they can beat a high level offense, and on the road, and maybe the best team in the league. After last week the Bills looked like they needed several weeks to prepare for this powerhouse offense--but instead they lost a vital practice day and vital players. But it is HUGE game for the Bills, a team that I think has a dramatically better opportunity with a bye and home field advantage. I believe with a win today the Bills will win out and get the #1 seed. If not, if their defense cannot hold up, again, then it may be a short playoff run. Then a laser like focus on the defensive line in the off season. More running, more of all of the running backs, some big plays on defense, a key turnover or three, and the passing game will look good with key players back. So, Bills 31, lions 24 Edited December 15 by Mister Defense 1 Quote
