Bill as a college coach would attract an insane plethora of talent.  Purely from his NFL connections and understanding of the NFL workings, if my kid was choosing a school it would be NC in a heartbeat.  If it doesn't work after a season or two, you transfer to another school and move on.

I agree.  The other day I scoffed at this.  Today I really gave it serious thought.

I believe in him, I think this could be huge.

Not surprised he isn’t getting back to the NFL, not at all.

Just watched The Dynasty: The New England Patriots. Robert Kraft did very little to hide how broken internally the patriots were at the end of Brady’s tenure there. All but said it was belichicks fault. Tom had a lot to say, a bit more veiled.

With Krafts pull in the league, wonder if his words helped keep belichick from pulling another HC job?  The way he treats players is old school and players these days wouldn’t be motivated by him.

Also wonder if other teams feel they won because of Brady, not him.

On the heels of this news, if I were a recruit it would be Colorado or NC.

Why? You think Deion is staying after his kids are gone? No shot. At least not with Colorado. Maybe this coming year. Maybe. I can 100 percent seem him moving on to a bigger job this season so he doesn't have to recruit another QB.

It could happen that UNC becomes a perennial powerhouse.

The last school to do that in football was Miami in the 80s.  Went from not much of a program pre 1980 or so to winning National Titles.

Teams like TCU, Boise now SMU have their moments in any given year, but its hard to build a program to compete with the traditional powers.

Belichick's manual is probably a very well thought out plan to do just that.  And with NIL and the portal, the sport is wide open for a real paradigm shift.  A non-traditional program could become the next Miami.  i certainly would not bet against him.

I understand but there are more things in life than money.

On the flip side( I love arguing with myself) college basketball is not nearly as popular as it was 20 years ago even for teams like Kentucky, UNC, Duke and certainly teams from the former BigEast

College basketball has almost become unwatchable.  Between all the one and done's, you don't know who anyone is and the fact that these kids can't shoot worth a lick anymore.

If UNC says no, I do think some of these big $$ schools would offer him the same.  Can you spell SEC??

Deion already has a 5-star QB committed for next season.

UNCs endowment is 5.1B, UConn’s is 0.6B.

Not so much my point, it’s about being what you are,

Interesting question.

I think the fact that he wants to build it out as a "Pipeline to the NFL" makes it very attractive to recruits. I think he'll be able to stand with any other coach he goes against.

The (unfortunate) biggest factor nowadays tho is NIL money. So whether he can do it or not will really depend on how much boosters are willing to pony up to help him get his recruits.

SMU boosters finally got their chance to legally pay players and they are in the Playoffs 1 year later. So it can be done.

edit to add:

With Saban retired, Belichick would be my top choice of "Coach I trust with my kid". If I'm a parent of a recruit, I'm pushing for Belichick over guys like Ryan Day, Brian Kelly, etc.

So, Sandusky and Paterno don't make the cut?..........got it.

I wonder if Belichick would be willing to give McDermott a copy of the chapter from his bible that discusses 'Head Coach Game Management Skills".

I don't understand this from either side. The college game is so heavily reliant on recruiting and vibes. Belichick doesn't seem like he is all that capable of being  a great recruiter (other than name/resume) and he certainly doesn't seem to be a vibes guy inside the facility.

This is just a means for him to guarantee Stephen a HC job. If I'm UNC I'm probably passing on him and this list of pretty aggressive demands. We'll see?

That in itself is enough for me to pass. I'm not interested in Steve Belichick. If I wanted Steve Belichick I'd hire Steve Belichick right now.

You could be right but if Belichick gets the job I wonder if he won't contact his old buddy Saban for advice on some of these things.
