DrDawkinstein Posted December 10 Posted December 10 (edited) Looks official "Belichick’s bible would require historic levels of investment from the school. Includes salary minimums position by position and a willingness to hire two staffs: a coaching staff run by Belichick; a recruitment staff run by a sitting college GM — who would require a buyout Belichick has a college and pro version of his updated manual and has shared it with other schools and NFL teams. But he drafted a new one specific to UNC that touched on every aspect of the program and school. Will need sign off from AD, chancellor, trustees and boosters There has already been pushback from the group of 13 trustees, with input from wider faculty. The investment would overhaul the school’s approach to football; Belichick unsure if the school will meet the demands and is unwilling to negotiate" Edited December 12 by DrDawkinstein 2 6 Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted December 10 Posted December 10 I'm shocked. We'll, not that shocked. Fairly shocked. 1 2 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted December 10 Author Posted December 10 Looks like he put the ball back in UNC's court to see if they are serious about building the Football program or if they want to continue being just a basketball school. 1 Quote

Georgia, Oregon, Texas, Ohio, etc. So I wouldnt call them unrealistic considering all the other big programs run this way. He just gave them the blueprint of what it will take to get there. 5 4 Quote

They should just read and implement the blueprint without him 🤷♂️ 1 6 1 Quote
SCBills Posted December 10 Posted December 10 This is a big time moment for not just UNC, but the ACC. SEC and B1G are running away with CFB and the ACC needs more than two traditional powers in Clemson & FSU, plus the allure of Miami and some teams that pop up from time to time in Syracuse, Pitt, NC State etc.. 2 1 Quote
mannc Posted December 10 Posted December 10 (edited) Misleading title. I don’t think UNC has agreed to his terms yet. Edited December 10 by mannc 2 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted December 10 Posted December 10 If I'm UNC, I say no. They are a basketball school with a decent football program. UNC is an excellent academic school. Stay in your lane and be who you are. Chasing some football success threatens your core identity. It's not worth it 3 1 1 Quote
hondo in seattle Posted December 10 Posted December 10 It figures Belichick would have a 400 page plan. And one that includes a GM to handle the stuff he doesn't like such as NIL and recruiting. Quote

I'm a Syracuse guy and if our football program becomes a perennial Top 25 program, while the basketball program is run into the ground by Autry, fine... Focusing on basketball for anyone other than UNC will leave them behind if realignment ever happens again. UNC has brand and location that makes them coveted no matter what, but for everyone else, the risk is being Kansas if the P4 falls. 1 Quote

On the flip side( I love arguing with myself) college basketball is not nearly as popular as it was 20 years ago even for teams like Kentucky, UNC, Duke and certainly teams from the former BigEast Quote
