If I don't stop crying in the next two minutes, I will hunt you down.

Sorry to hear that, man........putting down an animal is one of the toughest choices we ever have to make.

My vet once told me, "Putting down an unwell pet is one of the last acts of kindness we can give them". Take some solace and at least a little bit of peace in these words, brother.

My wife and I were in tears when the vet came in. My wife just said, "Is there anything else we can do?" The vet simply said, "You've done all you could".

My wife's cat, Lady Bella, was there for my wife through a bad first marriage, divorce, meeting and marrying me, 3 rounds of cancer. and all of other life's ups and downs. Today is going to suck.

I really hope you're dealing well with this.  My wife and I are those "crazy cat ladies" people think of.  We had to put our first 2 cats down the last couple years.  One was hers and the other was mine.  Hers literally followed her around the house during the day and slept at her feet while she worked from home.  Mine would run to the door meowing as soon as I would walk into the house from work.  Both of our cats slept with us on the bed side by side... her cat's spot right next to her in bed and mine on the opposite side next to me.

Hers got ovarian cancer.  Mine had both chronic kidney disease and heart failure.

I'm not ashamed to say I've never cried as much in my life when we decided it was time to put my boy down... 2nd place was when we put my wife's girl down.

Cats can be more of a roll of the dice than dogs, but the best cats are the best pets there are.

Condolences to your wife and you.

We have 5 other cats. Lady Bella was "the cat". When she accepted you, she fully accepted you. It took her a while before I was accepted, but one I was, she was such a love bug. I'd be laying down for a nap, and almost every day, I would feel her paw gently touching my lips, wanting pets. She came to the foot of the bed every night I went into the bedroom, just to greet me. Then back on my wife's pillow for sleep. She used to sleep above my wife's head, paws gently touching her hair.

Naps today were hard. We drank A LOT last night, but we're getting through.

When both of our cats passed we had them cremated and put in mahogany urns that we still have featured in our little "nook" in our living room.

I'll still say "'night bud" or "love you bud" frequently when I walk by 9 months after his passing.

I'm good.  We have other cats and one has latched onto me.

I'll never seek a replacement for him, though.  He was just totally unique in ways that are impossible to describe.  Grateful for the time I had with him.

That's all you can be.
