I'm not speaking of a literal asterisk, I'm speaking of people ALWAYS bringing up "well Mahomes sat his first year!" after every one of these records. You can deny it doesn't happen, but that's not reality. Even in this thread it was pointed out.

Also, OJ's record isn't even talked about outside of Bills fans, and that's a far more standard type of record ("most ___ in a season" vs "most ____ over first X years"). People care more about most yards in a season or most TDs in a season or most sacks in a season, rather than "most sacks for a player before age 30" or "most TDs in a player's first 7 seasons."

People talk about Eric Dickerson's rushing record, while only Bills fans are there to say "but he did it in 14 games vs 16!" In contrast, every time I see NFL or ESPN or any sports personality post about Allen's "most ___ in first X seasons," the replies are FILLED with people saying "Mahomes sat his first year, so it doesn't count!"

Nobody will be talking about mahomes sitting in 15 years

Tom Brady missed a season... Peyton Manning missed a season

Pretty sure Drew Brees missed a season

It will never be brought up in 15 years

Mahomes has played more games than Allen at this point tho

there's no asterisk

Well you must have quoted me within the first 10 seconds cuz I spelled it wrong and instantly edited it, as soon as I hit post I edited it lol

And it's technically not a Freudian slip because nothing about anal is on my mind LOL I just can't spell

Well, I just finished grading 63 biochemistry exams (verbal answers, not multiple choice), and I needed something to cheer me up. The unedited version of your post did just that. Thanks again!

Not really.

It's a message board, opinions will differ. I rolled the eyes because one could argue Mahomes made Kelce. Hill is pure speed, so he'd even look good with JP Losman.

Kelce's career took off with Mahomes, not that he was a slouch with Alex Smith. It's ok to acknowledge greatness on non-Bills players.

How exactly?

Kelce was coming off 2 years of over 80 catches and 1000 yards receiving.

Sure those numbers went up with Mahomes but it's not like they doubled or tripled.

Mahomes had a similar effect on Kelce as Allen had on Diggs in terms of stats.

Did the Bills WR corp even have 1000 yards between them the prior year combined?

Well I'm going to sound like a non Bills fan if I answer that with my opinion, and this will go on forever.

JA will eventually win a SB. It won't be this year. Let's leave it at that. It's like an Elway situation where he has to get the whole roster in synch.

Spot on.  This staff, lack of being able to find a front 4 that can consistently rush the passer, and coaching have let Allen down.

Not from a lack of trying lol

We literally gave von Miller a first-ballad Hall of famer 100 million contract

We drafted Greg  in the first round.. drafted epensesa in the second... Boogie basham in the second... Ed Oliver in the first... Signed Leonard Floyd

The bills have thrown tons of money and resources at it

I'll catch it for saying this, but it's true. The coaching change is what helped Elway finally win a superbowl.

*To date*, the Bills are to K.C., as the Dolphins were, to the Bills, in the early '90's.

We need a better, supporting cast.

"This Josh Allen is phenomenal, as we already know" - watching the NFL replay right now, and that's a direct quote from Brady.

Pretty cool to hear from the GOAT.

When Allen wins MVP and beats mahomes in the playoffs and then wins super bowl MVP.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say he's already top ten all time

When it's all said and done, I think mahomes and Allen are going to go down as the greatest QB rivalry in NFL history and both will be top 5 all time. Mahomes most likely being the greatest QB that's ever lived and Allen being somewhere in the top 5

Chiefs gotta get that offense sorted or mahomes is falling out of the best ever convo pretty quickly imo.  Rice will probably be suspended for a chunk of next year so idk how much better things are gonna get short term

Until mahomes is beat in the playoffs.... It honestly doesn't matter

He can put up multiple meh years. If he's not losing nobody will care

Well yea if he’s playing well enough to win superbowls that’s true. I’ve got a feeling their luck is gonna run out though until they sort out that offensive tackle situation

The nfl playoffs have a ton of luck involved…just gotta be the best seed you can for as long as you can.

most important thing is staying healthy then anything can happen.  We’ve had our share of coaching blunders but injuries come playoff time have made the margin of error tiny.

im not reading into the rams game TOO much…i think we would’ve had a lot more first half josh heroics if that was a playoff game and Milano likely gets benched for Williams.  Who knows how big a difference that would’ve made though

Use the same logic KC fans use about counting Allen's development years in 18 and parts of 19. ( This is the case with almost every QB in forever)

If we're going to hold Allens rookie year against Allen, then do the same with Mahomes 😁😈

According to KC logic then mahomes wasn't good enough to start as a rookie....
