Sunday was a big day for Josh Allen. With his six total TD's, he now has the most total TD's in a QB's first 8 seasons. The kicker of course is that Allen won't even start his 8th NFL season for another 9 months.

Statmuse- Most Total TD's first 8 seasons

Allen currently sits at 254 total TD's and counting with 4 games to go. On Sunday he passed Peyton Manning (253) and Patrick Mahomes ( 252) to leap from third to first. Mahomes of course is wrapping up his 8th season and will find himself in second place on the list with two more TD's.

It goes without saying that Sunday was also the first time in the Allen/Mahomes era that Allen (254) leap frogged Mahomes (252) for the most total TD's in their careers. The totals going into Sunday's games was Mahomes with 251 to Allen's 248. Pretty impressive closing of the gap when you consider that after Allen's rookie 2018 season he was 34 TD's behind Mahomes. And Mahomes himself didn't exactly stop scoring TD's as he would go on to total 39, 40 and 45 TD seasons after his breakout 52 TD 2018 season.

Since the start of the 2022 season both Allen and Mahomes have played 46 games. Their raw passing efficiency numbers are nearly identical. Mahomes has exactly 1,000 moe passing yards and Allen has about 700 more rushing yards along with six times the rushing TD's. Allen boasts a better TD to Turnover ratio over this span.

Since start of 2022 seasons 46 games played for each:

Josh Allen: 11,622 pass yards 87 pass TD 37 INTs 96.3 rating 1,702 rushing yards 32 rush/rec 11 fumbles lost TD 13,324 total yards and 119 total TD's 2.5 : 1 TD to Turnover ratio

Patrick Mahomes: 12,622 pass yards 88 pass TD 37 INTs 97.2 prating 995 rushing yards 5 rush TD's 3 fumbles lost 13,617 total yards and 93 total TD's 2.3 : 1 TD to Turnover ratio

When Allen wins MVP and beats mahomes in the playoffs and then wins super bowl MVP.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say he's already top ten all time

When it's all said and done, I think mahomes and Allen are going to go down as the greatest QB rivalry in NFL history and both will be top 5 all time. Mahomes most likely being the greatest QB that's ever lived and Allen being somewhere in the top 5

This is absurd. He broke a record thru 8 seasons of the most prolific TD scorer of all time and he isn't even done with his 7th season.

The NFL does not fully appreciate his greatness or the things he is doing that have never been done before on a seemingly weekly basis.

This player should not exist. The NFL has never seen him before and might not see him again.

Never take these days for granted. It will not be seen again in our lifetime.

Mahomes didn't play his first season, so they are on a very similar pace. Pretty incredible QBs.

My old man once said before he passed away......."we are witnessing a QB talent that we may never see again in the NFL".

And he was right.

Bills fans know what we have, even if the rest of the league doesn't appreciate it.

Jim Kelly is one of my all-time favorite Bills players and i never thought or believed that i would ever see the day where a QB could even compete with what Kelly has accomplished in the past, but we are indeed witnessing a QB talent that we may never see again in the NFL.

For all of Allen’s greatness, he has to carry the Titanic on his back when it comes to his team, especially the coaches.

He might go down as Dan Marino 2.0 with legs.

I hope I’m wrong as Allen deserves multiple SB rings.

yes and no.

Allen was at a 34 TD deficit to Mahomes after year one. That has totally evaporated. So the pace has been heavily in Allen’s favor with every passing year.

But that's only because "Josh vultures TDs that his RBs deserve."  🙄

Whenever people say that, I ask them how many goal-line shovel-pass TDs Mahomes has.... silence.

Also, Josh led six separate TD drives of 70 or more yards on Sunday.  I would wager that that has never happened before.  Usually when a team scores six or more offensive TDs, they benefit at least once (and often more) from a short field due to a turnover or long return.  Just another way in which Allen is one of one.

He played the last game of the year. Also Mahomes inherited a great team full of weapons, including 2 HOF players in Kelce and Hill, while Allen inherited a trash team with no weapons putting him at a major disadvantage starting out.

He has erased that disadvantage.

Dan Marino was drafted and took over a Super Bowl team with a hall of fame coach.

Josh Allen did not and does not play with any coaches who are going to the hall of fame.

The Dolphins offense was putrid when Marino took over and instantly made them a lethal offense with his arm alone.

Marino was as much a one man gang as Allen is now.

If we can win a Superbowl or 3 Allen is in the conversation for the greatest of all time

If we continue to come up short he will be a footnote., very sad, but true.

They went to the Super Bowl in 1982, they were the 2 seed in 81 and were the afc favorites.

he had Duper and Clayton from day one.

The dolphins were led by Don Shula and Bill arnsparger.

the situation with Allen could not be more different.

Allen had the greatest single game of all time on Sunday, in terms of fantasy football.

”Leading NFL MVP candidate Josh Allen had the best fantasy performance by a quarterback ever in Week 14, logging an incredible six touchdowns(three through the air, three on the ground) en route to 51.88 fantasy points.”

(The Athletic)

In the other games on the list, the player’s team had a blowout victory.

They said that about Sanders in Detroit.

Despite Josh's singular greatness, 5 playoff wins in 5 trips.

Squandering greatness...

Thanks to the D and ST playing their F- game in the playoffs losses.

Bills with Allen have been far more successful than the Lions were in Detroit with Sanders.

They are the 2nd winningest team in all of pro sports over the last 5 years, trailing only the Chiefs.

Also at no point in his career was Sanders the all-time leading TD per game player in the history of the NFL.
