They DID get a yard.  Problem is they needed about 4.5 feet!

Based on my math, it was a poor call.  But...depending on your guess at Utility Function, your decision may vary.  What was EGREGIOUSLY stupid was calling the time out.  Had we have waited til they had the ball, it likely would've saved 20-30 seconds.  Just enough (if we got the ball back) to have a chance of scoring.

 

p.s. Based on JA's response & how he said it, I don't think he was happy w/ the call & it was made by someone above him, be it Brady or Mcdufus.

Between making them do 3rd down over that wasted 40 seconds, and using the TO, there could have been 1:20 on the clock when they punted.

Regardless of the play call.  If the sneak doesn't work...you either run up to the line and spike ball...or run another quick play.  The only thing you can't do...is call a frigging time out.

A successful QB sneak against, say, the Jaguars at midfield in the 2nd quarter is a lot different than the Rams goal line with under a minute to play. The 13/14 stats you keep quoting have to take the current situation under consideration. We failed earlier in the game. You just can't run there. And no QB is going to spike the ball there lol.

Why not?  You don’t like the play spike it and get a different call.  A lot of folks here are saying Josh didn’t like the call.  So don’t run the play.

Then maybe the latter is the problem.  You don’t like the play but as a veteran QB run it anyway?   Brady said today with hindsight maybe he makes a different call.  But hindsight is 20/20.    But Josh has the option there.  He could have rolled out and thrown it away if nothing was there.  So spare me your crap about no QB in history and the rest of your histrionics.
