I presume Brady called the sneak.  And I have to presume Josh liked it as well.  If he didn’t he could have audibled or just spiked it.  Would love to have someone ask questions about that.

I listened to his post game and it didn't sound like he liked it at all.

He kind of tip toed the questions when they asked him about the call and just kept saying "I need to do a better job of getting in there".

If they had gotten the yard like they typically do, the call would have been fine.  Since it did not work, as Marv Levy once said, it obviously was the wrong call post hoc.

We should've called some variation of the pass/run option. That timeout absolutely cannot get burned.  And our tush pushes lately are starting to get stopped. The Rams snuffed one earlier in the game.  Brady/McD have to be smarter.

He’ll never said he doesn’t

also, we just needed another stop that TO wasn’t the difference we were not going to get it back

idk what game people were watching to complain about that we weren’t stopping them

We stopped them on third down and they punted right after that.

You name one stop on a sneak but say lately there have been others.  When? The stats I can find say we were successful on 13/14 going into yesterday’s game.

McD stubbornly seemed to agree in his media call today that it’s something “they discussed” today and will learn from. That they needed to keep those 3 timeouts no matter what.  He had a tough time articulating his thoughts about this after the game. I’m not even sure he was aware the ball was closer to the 1.5 yard line. which makes a big difference on the tush push. That’s far from automatic as we saw a couple times yesterday.

It didn't help that that was not their typical tush push formation and Josh didn't have the push behind the tush he usually does from 2 guys behind him, which I'm sure played a factor.

Wasn't really a fan of the call either way though.  Would've rather seen play action bootleg and give Josh the option to pass it or run it in.

I doubt they play it the same way, up 2 at their 30, us with 3 TO’s … they would’ve tried to end it with Stafford.

Regardless, we’ll never know.

And to the other comments in this thread, if you watch the replay Josh clearly makes an annoyed remark about a timeout walking towards the huddle.

This is why I’d love someone to be a fly on the wall.  With the right package I think they score.  So I’d love to know if Josh liked the play because he could have changed it or spiked it.

I can tell you from Josh's demeanor and comments at the presser, he wasn't a fan.

He took the blame and said he needed to get in there, but he can't create a hole that's not there. It was a risky call to begin with and without he extra push from behind, it was even riskier.

I don't even really understand what the point was running it that way without the extra push from behind.  It's like they were trying to make it more difficult.

BS.  They were 13/14 on sneaks going into the game.  They needed the two guys behind him to push.  Which is why I wonder why Josh didn’t either audible or spike if in fact he didn’t like the call.

Of course he didn't like the call lol

He threw like 2 deliberate incompletions on that drive to save time/timeouts

Then change it or spike it.  They were successful on 13/14 sneaks going into yesterday so saying it’s never the right call is silly.

Spot on, man.  People claim we never get stopped on these, but yet like you said, we’d gotten stopped on one in earlier in the game.  Can’t take the chance of the clock running after the play like we did, should have been the pass/run option for first three downs at least.

And btw, everyone questioning whether Josh should have audibled bc of the situational aspect.  The coaches need to know better about the situational elements, Josh shouldn’t be expected to have to question all of the play calls too on top of everything.  Yes, if something looks funny he needs to audible, but on a QB sneak, he’s likely going to think he can get there almost every time.
