Could say the same thing about the Eagles eventually moving on from Andy Reid.

In all seriousness, is that a really good example or a really bad example when you consider the amount of Super Bowls that Andy has won since he left Philly?

It's the same thing imo but if the Montana 49ers dynasty was in the AFC hypothetically with Elway. At least that's how I look at it

Not great cap situations due to over paid players is never going to get the talent required.

Mcdermott is who he is. the scheme is good vs ***** QB's. we're simply a better version of Miami.

Not only is this a terrible take, ya kinda sound silly for just the way you phrase it. After one grown man calls another chubby, it's kinda hard to take anything that comes after serious - good point or not. In this instance, it's not... but that's not the point.

It's a SB roster as when this team as it's best they're almost unbeatable. When they don't they can lose just like every other team and usually by one missed play. Yesterday that was the missed non false start penalty against the Rams.

You really believe this?

I believe this is a team that could potentially win a SB this season if we stay healthy, play our best, and get lucky.

I wouldn't call it the best roster in the NFL.  Not even close.  But the team with the best roster doesn't always win the Lombardi.  Maybe it's our turn to not be the best team but win it all anyway.  I'd love that.  But I'm not holding my breath.

I understand ppl use that example but it makes little sense

As soon as Andy Reid got a hof qb in mahomes he won and went to multiple super bowls

He helped mcnabb who is Hof adjacent get to like 4 conferences championship games and one super bowl

Buffalo played one of its worst defensive games in years and they still almost won in a shootout without 2 skill starters on offense

It's as close as it gets to a legitimate Superbowl team.

They were the fastest to clinching a division in 15 years. Does the division suck, yeah. It's still very impressive

Their srs is 2nd in the NFL

3rd in overall dvoa

Their point differential is second behind Detroit

They are the only team to beat KC , again without multiple starters

It's irrational to doubt them as a top 3 or so blue chip contender

This is a solid argument.

But we rank 10th in yards on offense and 14th in yards on defense.  Those rankings suggest the Bills are an above-average team but not a great one.

Our offense is mostly jags with the exception of Josh.  Cook is a nice back but he's not Barkley.  And Coop is five time Pro Bowler but hasn't played like one for us yet.

Out defense is mostly jags except for...  I don't really have a name here.  Bernard?  Benford?  Milano - if he was healthy?   Miller - if younger?   All the playoff-hopeful teams have guys as good as Bernard and Benford.

I often feel like there's a talent gap between the Bills and our opponents.  We usually win anyway either because (1) Josh is an alien, and/or (2) McD, Brady, and Babich out prepare, out scheme, and out call their counterparts.

I do think the culture McD and his staff has built gives the Bills a certain X factor but it's not enough to elevate the team to true SB contenders.

I don't expect to beat the Lions this week, but if we do I may rethink my position.

We disagree on a few points. But overall solid points

I agree that there is no jamar chase or micah Parsons on the team around Josh.

At the same time I think we're overreacting a bit to an all time performance by another Hof adjacent QB in Stafford.

Greg Rousseau has been dominant this year.

Von Miller has been really good this year and I have full faith playoff von Miller will be ready. Why? Because I've seen it this year

Oliver in that KC game this year was the most explosive 3tech I've seen in the NFL. He  disappeared for lots of the year. I speculate he is dealing with something and pacing himself. Again we've earned that right to rest guys now and pace ourselves. I have zero doubt they're going to take it up to level ten in the playoffs and destroy everyone. Decades of watching football tells me that

I understand the feeling of angst. We've been really close and Allen has had all time performances wasted. This game reminded a lot of people of the 13 seconds game etc ...

I get it

Not to worry. Beat the Lions this week and it’s back to threads about winning the superbowl this year to start a dynasty!

As a team it can be beat anyone at it's best. It doesn't mean it's the best players or roster.

Coach lost me at 13 seconds. I put up with his 2020 OT playoff loss after blowing a 16 point lead and he D allowing a winning score. Same goes for 2021 when he had an undersize running back against Kansas City. Plus the defense stunk. The 13 second game scheme in the final drive for a field goal was so bizzare I thought the game was fixed. Plus the defense stunk.  Ever since he showed up in 2017 his Defense hasnt done enough in the playoffs. Plus its not going to get better. Not with him here. My opinion!

So look at the Denver Broncos with John Elway back in the 1980's with coach Dan Reeves.  Three Super Bowl losses so he was released. McDermott cant even compare to his accomplishments. The parallel is their quarterbacks. John Elway and Josh Allen. Denver management made a coaching change and it finally righted itself with coach Michael Shanahan.  They won two Super Bowls with John Elway.

I see a parallel here. I have great admiration for coach Dan Reeves. I do have some admiration for coach McDermott but its tainted by his scheme, play calling and philosophy. Hes at his peak as was Reeves albeit at a different level.

Move on from McDermott and give Josh Allen and the people of Buffalo their due. Just like John Elway had with the Denver Broncos.

If you are in any way right in thinking that McD needs to be fired then in your given NFL knowledge which is higher than mine WHO would be the Shanahan that would put the Bills into a SB ?

And if you can't give one that would be a guarantee to be better than McD then i hope this would be the last time we need to here how incompetent he is !!

The reason why i say that is because as i write this i am listening to coaches being the coordinators, & players that said it was on them not playing the way they know how and the way they planned to in this game and it was just a terrible game all the way around .

this team is still good enough to push into the playoffs but i don't see us winning the super bowl even if we get there. josh would need to go beyond his super human effort.

i don't know what i'd rather have: josh getting a super bowl victory with our flawed team now... or josh saving himself a little until the team is stronger and things are looking more upright

regardless, this is the weakest the nfl has ever been - there is little parity and the afc is not that good even if the chiefs have only lost 1.

Exactly change for changes sakes doesn't necessarily mean things will be better. We saw it when we moved away from Schwartz to Ryan's defense.

Wait, why are you crying? Who is Francis?  As an aside, who gets on a teams owner when said team is 10-3? You must be a hoot at parties. It's the equivalent of being mad at Josh Allen because he wore green cleats last game. Kinda weird, kinda petty, fits your MO perfect!

They made a huge change and it failed and two more years were wasted of Elway's career.  Also you are leaving out elway and reeves always butted heads and shanahan was a mediator of sorts during his two stints with reeeves and the broncos.    McDermott and Allen do not have a bad relationship.

The same people calling for McDermott to be fired will be the same ones asking why McDermott was fired when the next guy say a mike vrabel or whoever can't win the division.

Exactly, when McDermott benches Josh for the modern Tommy Maddox and Shaun Moore yes, it's time to move on.

I agree with you but they are wasting him like all thise Detroit years for Stafford. Same for John Elway. Then ownership made several coaching changes and Elway won two Super Bowls @ 2 / 5

Did you see AJ Epenesa unblocked on two separate plays get blown by. They ran right by him! They drafted him for his quickness? I mean what the hell. Our scouts SUCK.  The other team [Rams] knew that hes so useless they schemed plays to not even block him, ran right by him  and he missed two tackles. Oliver is just too small. 40 is done as a result of injury and age. Plus we dont have a defensive coaching staff helping them.  Run defense sucked ever since McDermott showed up here in 2017. Even with Kyle. IMO his gaps are too wide.

How about Coach Smiley. I watched Bass on his kicks. He pulls/ pushes them to the right or left of the goal posts when the snaps are high from center which is almost every game now. Go look at the game tapes. Ferguson is done. When the snap is corrrect hes down the middle. Smiley is useless and just another yes man. Just like the local announcers on GR as one caller put it; chapstick arse kissers

Von Miller, Rousseau, Oliver, and Epenesa are going to take it up a notch vs Detroit.

The game buffalo plays vs Detroit will be close to how they'll be in the playoffs. Only a little better because we should be at home for a couple playoff games

yep. AJ made 1 play all night. the rest of his snaps looked like he was a full second late to react. NOT good. Not championship caliber AT ALL.
