waterglass Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Coach lost me at 13 seconds. I put up with his 2020 OT playoff loss after blowing a 16 point lead and he D allowing a winning score. Same goes for 2021 when he had an undersize running back against Kansas City. Plus the defense stunk. The 13 second game scheme in the final drive for a field goal was so bizzare I thought the game was fixed. Plus the defense stunk. Ever since he showed up in 2017 his Defense hasnt done enough in the playoffs. Plus its not going to get better. Not with him here. My opinion! So look at the Denver Broncos with John Elway back in the 1980's with coach Dan Reeves. Three Super Bowl losses so he was released. McDermott cant even compare to his accomplishments. The parallel is their quarterbacks. John Elway and Josh Allen. Denver management made a coaching change and it finally righted itself with coach Michael Shanahan. They won two Super Bowls with John Elway. I see a parallel here. I have great admiration for coach Dan Reeves. I do have some admiration for coach McDermott but its tainted by his scheme, play calling and philosophy. Hes at his peak as was Reeves albeit at a different level. Move on from McDermott and give Josh Allen and the people of Buffalo their due. Just like John Elway had with the Denver Broncos. 6 2 1 5 1 1 3 Quote

You left out the part where they hired Wade Phillips, lost in the wild card round, then missed the playoffs then hired shanahan and missed the playoffs. then the big one you left out. Mike Shanahan and John Elway led the Broncos to the 1 seed at 13-3 and lost at home in the divisional round to Tom Coughlin's Jaguars. Will you have the patience for that to transpire? 3 5 3 2 Quote

waterglass Posted December 9 Author Posted December 9 I did leave out Phillips but my point was they made a HUGE change on a successful coach and finally hit with an aging superstar quarterback. Same could be said for Allens situation. Look at all the years Matthew Stafford was in Detroit 1 Quote

I loved Coach Mike Pettine and Jim Schwartz defense. They were more fun to watch than the offense. 9 minutes ago, MJS said: They'd be calling for that coach's head as well. For sure. Philly made wholesale changes after reid and had to fail big time with chip kelly before doug pederson lucked into a superbowl. again, lot of years and mistakes between reid and the superbowl. 1 1 1 Quote

Also you are leaving out elway and reeves always butted heads and shanahan was a mediator of sorts during his two stints with reeeves and the broncos. McDermott and Allen do not have a bad relationship. The same people calling for McDermott to be fired will be the same ones asking why McDermott was fired when the next guy say a mike vrabel or whoever can't win the division. 1 1 1 1 Quote
DeltaDigital Posted December 9 Posted December 9 chubby terry isn't gonna make any changes. The personnel is mediocre at best, the whiffs on the DL especially at DE are going to be the albatross. Not great cap situations due to over paid players is never going to get the talent required. Mcdermott is who he is. the scheme is good vs ***** QB's. we're simply a better version of Miami. 1 2 2 1 1 Quote

They currently have two new coordinators this year and a number of new coaches with a lot of young players and a more coming aboard in april with the draft power they have. Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I hate what I’m about to say but it’s not going to be easy to beat KC and win a Super Bowl, no matter what they do at head coach. What I know right now is the Bills are a possession away from beating KC. I don’t know what happens with a coaching change. We’ll see what happens in the playoffs this year. I’m just not ready to fire McDermott until I feel like the top AFC teams are pulling away from the Bills. Quote

The Eagles didn't win squat for roughly 6 years after Reid was gone. Just sayin.. 23 minutes ago, MikePJ76 said: Not the same. But yesterday was a bad look for the Bills D. The Rams are good. Heck, they may even get to the NFCC game as they are getting healthy and had a very slow, injured start. If Detroit rolls us... and I think they will, we will finally know that this was indeed a "rebuild" year. IMO the Steelers, Baltimore and KC are very tough games in the playoffs for our D. KC was without pacheco when we won this year. We will see... but i ahve always thought our D is the swiss cheese. 1 Quote
Billz4ever Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I'm withholding judgment until the season is over. If we have another early playoff exit largely due to defensive failures again, his seat should be getting pretty warm. Can't keep doing the same thing every year and expect different results. 1 1 Quote

Yeah, the barefoot kicker's FG was wide left in Cleveland in OT. The NFL wanted Pat Bowlen in the SB Quote

That is one of the biggest upsets ever which is kind of forgotten about because the Broncos won back to back the following two seasons. When they lost at the time just about everyone questioned if Elway could get it done and if that was it. Quote
