US Egg Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 There were times Bills DB’s seemingly ran blindly to spots in zones when nobody was anywhere near only to look up and see Nacua standing alone in front of them. It had a comedic look like “oh, you’re over there”. 2 1 Quote

Josh and the Offense deserved a win, the defense should be embarrassed and give their pay to charity, they didn't earn it and the "Not so" Special Teams gave up a TD on a blocked punt, ST has sucked all season. Facing the Lions Offense this Sunday after yesterdays Defensive meltdown feels like a daunting task, especially since we let them run so we can concentrate on stopping the pass ... oops... That won't work vs the Lions. Expand We did not let them run to focus on the pass outside of the first couple drives to start the game. In fact it looked much closer to the opposite the rest of the way and Stafford made some incredible throws im kind of happy we got forced into that philosophical shift in the regular season to be honest…right before the lions is as good a time as any for that to happen Edited December 9, 2024 by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote

Factor in zero pass rush from our litany of Jags and Nacua was guaranteed to sit down in our zone and be wide open. Stafford wasn't pressured at all. Expand Brady kept saying how the combo of Stafford (savvy vet) and Puka/Kupp was just too much for our zone D. We needed to mix it up more. Stafford actually got pressured some, but he was so comfortable with his reads on our D that he just chucked it to the open spot before he got sacked. The Bills couldn't stop the run either, especially in the first half. That was a rough game against an O that is finally healthy and in sync. We didn't look great against SF either, but got bailed out by TOs. I hate to say it, but Milano might need to sit a little more until fully healthy and up to speed. We also could use Hyde for Hamlin from a coverage standpoint against better passing teams. 2 Quote
UKBillFan Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 (edited) Stafford and Nacua have probably not had, and will not have, an easier game in their whole careers. Defensive play calling and execution was shown up for what it was, and it happens all too often against good offenses. Edited December 9, 2024 by UKBillFan 1 1 Quote

dma0034 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 The Bills adjustments were to send more pressure at Stafford because the D-Line couldn't generate any without extra men and Stafford was throwing at an elite level yesterday without the pressure. When they sent more men to pressure the CBs were unable to stop Nacua or Kupp 1 on 1. Quote

Expand Saying Puka Nacua is "not that good" is absolutely ludicrous. In just a season and a half of NFL Football, he's accounted for 2,318 yards and 10 TD's. The guy was an All Pro last season as a Rookie. His 162 yards against us wasn't his highest or even his 2nd highest Receiving total in a single game in that only a year and a half of play. He's one of the best WR's in Football. Should we have fared better against him and made adjustments? Yes. But if you weren't concerned about him heading into this game and believe he's "not that good" - you must not pay much attention to the NFL outside of Buffalo Bills football. appoo Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Once the line got washed out in the first quarter run game the defense was hamstrung as it create a chain reaction that led to them being basically unstoppable on offense. If you can't stop the run on first down you're not even gonna get to 3rd down to put out a pass rush. The run + play action stuff led to Puka and Kupp with favorable coverages. 2nd half? That's really where the the Bills getting trounced in Pass rush and then Puka + Kupp saying ***** y'all DBs I'm just making plays came in. In the 2nd half the Rams converted the following: Drive 1 3rd and 10 (Puka for 17) 3rd and 6 (Puka DPI and got 7 anyways) 3rd and 3 (Goal to go) Drive 2 3rd and 6 (Puka for 24) 3rd and 3 (Kupp for 17 and TD) Drive 3 3 and out Drive 4 3rd and 9 (Puka DPI) 4th and 5 (Tutu for 11) 3rd and 5 (Puka Screen TD) Like they only had 2 favorable 3rd downs! That's a combo of poor pass rush and elite QB to WR play On 12/9/2024 at 10:59 PM, Simon said: It says our defense is a problem.
