colin Posted December 16 Posted December 16 The whole dline has a switch flipped. The back 7 was beyond awful after like 42 good minutes, but they had Spencer Brown and cam Lewis and someone else who I dont think I'd recognize playsong, so it makes sense, kinda. I think they were way off vs the Rams. Also, and we benefit from this sometimes too, in the past 2 bills games the refs are letting some shocking OL holding go. On two of the late scoring drives by Detroit I saw bills defenders getting spun around by holds and no flags. 1 Quote

I think most of this season is about him keeping himself uninjured, that's he's cranked it up for this stretch, that he's going ti disappear again protecting himself the next three weeks and then go walking into the playoffs healthy and looking to be a menace. I think the same thing about DaQuan Jones who has also looked much better to me the last 3-4 weeks and for the same reasons. 3 Quote

Totally agree (maybe the same will be true to some extent with Von as well). 1 Quote

The Bills seemed to move him around more today than I can recall. Edited December 16 by Spiderweb 2 Quote
Shaw66 Posted December 16 Posted December 16 On a video interview that I saw before the game, Dan Campbell had high praise for Oliver. He said Oliver demands double teams and the Lions would double him. Quote
White Linen Posted December 16 Posted December 16 Dude shot out of a cannon yesterday. Dominant performance. Quote
Big Turk Posted December 16 Posted December 16 Oliver was unblockable yesterday...and he dominated the Lions interior...that pancake on the center was unreal. 1 Quote

Oliver running over Detroit’s center shows how when he turns it on, he can beat the best, if healthy. McD’s defense is so predicated on the d tackles, as they go this D goes. Even more so than the DE’s from what I have seen over the past several years. Quote

DapperCam Posted December 16 Posted December 16 This game actually annoyed me. Oliver got a lot of criticism over the past week on social media and in the press, and then he has one of the most dominant DT performances of the entire season. That shows me that he’s been going through the motions this year and can turn it on when he feels like it. I guess as long as he turns it on in the playoffs it won’t matter. Quote

I think alot of the veterans on this team will start to show out in the playoffs. After 5 years of it, they realize that very few people in the league can go 18 weeks straight and then play better for a month of playoffs in the snow in January. I think the team has done well with keeping players on the sideline this year to fully recover, too. I expect Ed, Von, Kincaid, Milano, etc will all hopefully start rounding into playoff mode in the coming weeks. 1 Quote

The Bills have assembled enough talent that they have the luxury of recognizing this and acting accordingly. If they were a fringe team that had to sell out every week to be in playoff contention, it would be a wholly different tale. But they aren't. They are a group of high character, smart, skilled vets that understand that they real hay isn't made until after Christmas and recognize that if they want to have their Agame at that time, they need to wisely pick their spots to go full beastmode in the regular season. They've been stung enough by missing a high volume of key guys in the postseason 2 of the last 3 years that I think they are consciously (and wisely) trying to make sure it doesn't happen again. Aside from the Taylor Rapp wildcard, so far so good. I'd also add Daquan Jones to your valid list; I think he's in the same boat as Oliver, has been much better over the last month during this key stretch, will also take his foot off the gas the next 3 weeks and will be ready to go get some for real in January. 1 Quote
