Pete Posted December 9 Posted December 9 DLine got dominated. They could not stop the run, and they could not pressure Stafford. I’m talking to you Ed Oliver and DaQuan. Shameful performance. It’s hardly the first time DL has failed us this year. DL is the Achilles heel of a loaded Bills team, led by Josh Allen. 6 30 3 3 Quote
Sweats Posted December 9 Posted December 9 We got absolutely zero pressure on Stafford who was sitting all day long behind a suspect Oline. Like, i have no words for the game planning we did on this one. 6 Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Not just vs the Rams but it’s the main reason we don’t advance in the playoffs. We don’t have dominant force on the DL. 8 18 2 Quote
stlbills13 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Yesterday's game was 7 on 7 basically on both sides of the ball. And we sat in a soft zone for 55 minutes 4 2 1 Quote
BillMafia716ix Posted December 9 Posted December 9 (edited) Von was our best Dlineman yesterday. Refs missed an obvious holding call on a key 3rd down in the 4th Q that resulted in a Rams TD. He was setting the edge pretty well too. I’d honestly play him over AJ but I know they trying to preserve his legs. Edited December 9 by BillMafia716ix 2 10 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Daquan Jones is toast and has been all year. Historically Oliver doesn't play well when the 1 tech struggles next to him. Outside of that you have Groot who is at his best a 2nd pass rush option, Epenesa who shouldn't be starting on a good NFL team, and the ghost of Von Miller. Part of this is on Beane for rolling with the guys they have. Part of it is on McDermott who rolls out Miller instead of seeing what Soloman has. 4 10 1 Quote
Pete Posted December 9 Author Posted December 9 Von drew a penalty and had one good series in 4th quarter. Rousseau had one play I saw. First play of DaQuan made stop. And that was it for good play. The DL was putrid besides that 4 1 Quote
Gman10 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 This place is weird, I said this yesterday before the game. I mentioned how our run D was weak and we would lose to KC or Ravens in playoffs and everyone talked so much junk to me. Im glad more and more of you are opening your eyes. Im not a great football analyst, but that one was obvious. Im hoping for a solid 26-27 Bills season/SB. Pick up a good WR, some defense and we will be solid. go Bills! 2 2 1 1 Quote
chef4131 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I do think its time for an Ed Oliver discussion 8 tkls this season and 1 sack Am I wrong thinking we should have more production from him? 5 1 9 1 4 Quote

They've allocated a lot of cap and roster spots to the D line but they still don't have anyone the opponent needs to game plan around. Miller was supposed to be one of those guys but that didn't work out. The draft has produced good but not consistent difference makers. Realistically, this team is not getting anywhere near the SB without upgrades at DL and Safety. They're wasting Allen's once in a generation talent and the clocks ticking and one day the reality of it all is going to hit and he'll want out. If I'm Josh I'm going to Beane in the off season and demand they address what all us fans see as obvious problems. Edited December 9 by All_Pro_Bills 4 3 1 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Maybe it's just me, but Oliver looks like he's put on a bit of weight. Causing him that explosiveness he would have from time to time. That along with Daquon Jones turning into Star Lotulelei this year is killing the inside of the line. 2 2 Quote

fasteddie Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I believe that the problem with the d line is that they watch too many 1940's musicals, wishing they were Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire. All they do Is line up against the offense and start hugging the linemen across from them like Cyd Charisse (google it). There is no urgency with the defense. Just sit back and hope the offense screws up. Well, good offenses don't do that. McDermott will never figure it out. 1 1 1 Quote
Tortured Soul Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Why do people think we couldn’t stop the run? Rams ran for 3.3 YPC. 1 Quote

It is hardly “looking at one game” The Ravens game is really the only game we have been "run on". Even this game the dialog is drastically overstated. It would be fair to say our pass rush has been flogged multiple times 1 Quote
Buffalo Boy Posted December 9 Posted December 9 If they would only prioritize drafting and acquiring DL prospects…….😒 1 1 Quote

Shortchaz Posted December 9 Posted December 9 (edited) Ed Oliver is probably dealing with a lingering hamstring issue. I don’t love Oliver but he has flashed for periods of his career. He’s not a monster but him and Rousseau are quality starters. We need major upgrades at the other 2 starting d-line positions in the offseason. this was known before this game though. Beane needs to fix and overhaul the D this off season. 6 Quote
