Agree completely. So much of it comes

down to seeding and luck. For all these SB winners, I bet they can point to one or two huge plays or lucky breaks that were critical in their runs.

anyone who has been in any single-elimination competition has experienced this.

Disagree

I think the distribution of Super Bowls suggests variance plays significantly less a role than people make it out to

Is it me, or has Douglas not been playing as well as he did last year?  I'd actually be kind of interested to see what Elam can do in a full game, if that's their plan.

Rapp is the only big loss here if he can't play, imo.  He's a real playmaker.  But I'd also love to see Bishop get some more experience.

Elam has always had a knack for making a big play in big moments...that's why I can't understand why he doesn't see the field more.

Put Elam and Bishop out there

Elam must not “practice” hard enough

Hoping he gets the nod and proves coach wrong

I guess not.  He makes plays, and we need to get Bishop up to speed

If these games are ramp up games for Milano let's see what the rook and Elam got

Elam is counting the days until he’s cut so he can get an opportunity some place else

I think so too.  Time for MCD to change.

He used to be a ***** on 4th down now he's aggressive.

He needs to evolve

This time of the year when “everyone is banged up” there is a certain appeal to starting fresh, high ceiling backups. I will be ticked off if we trot out Ingram instead. Was kinda irritated McDermott brought up Ingram’s pick six (from like week 3) when talking about him earlier this week. That int was as easy as catching a routine fly ball in the outfield.

I will tell you, even Sal Capaccio could have returned that one for a pick 6.

Elam's been here three years now.  He knows the system.  It was always a bad pick given his strengths and weaknesses.

Don't know what the off field issues continue to be, but it's got to finally be clear that they need to move on from him. I expect them to do their best to move him during the draft and hopefully get something back for a former first rounder.

McDermott makes them more than the other top coaches

You can't prove that.  You haven't watched all "top coaches" (and what comprises a top coach anyway?) games within the same period of time as McD.   There just isn't a way to quantify this.

Just stop.

The flack this coach gets is mindboggling.

Be honest: Wouldn't you have been impressed and astonished in equal measures if McDermott had declined that Rams penalty in the fourth quarter, likely leading the Rams to try a field goal instead of going for it (and ultimately scoring a TD)? It would have been counter-intuitive, fast-thinking, and correct. Does that sound like the Bills head coach?

Oh i was screaming to decline it, thinking they'll try a long kick.   What I wasn't thinking is that the Rams could NOT kick, and get the first down.

We're asking the coach to be 100% perfect all the time.   And, making those pressured decisions within seconds, while we can all sit back afterwards, bat the different scenarios around, then call him out, after having the time to think things through.

I just think a lot of fans are being WAY unreasonable with McD.  It's like ANY decision the guy makes HAS to be proven correct with gameplay, otherwise we should get a new coach.  Its ridiculous imo.

All the years the Pats were on top they were constantly changing systems on O and D. Do you think it’s harder to find playmakers to fit the system or adapt the system around what your players do best?

Listening to these two interviews and considering everything else, I’d actually put my money on Ingram being the planned starter this week rather than Elam.  Like you’re saying, seems like Elam knows his time here is pretty much up and he’s just biding his time now.  We’ll see.
