Wow. Don't think he even showed up on the box score so he must have literally not done anything.

He got pushed around a lot if that counts.

Carter played and he was terrible.

Must of been he earned it 2 months ago kind of deal with McD, not what have you done for me lately.

What does this mean?  He played well before the injury and this was his first time back playing.  What could he have done while he was out to prove anything.

the whole d line was bad and Von miller is the worst of the bunch.  Solomon should get all miller’s snaps this week.

It means he was out on injury and McD put him in despite being ready to play at a high level, just like Milano. Guy says everything is earned but we seen Tre and Von get the same treatment coming off injury. Tell me something, has Dorian Williams earned his roll on the bench coming off a bye. It’s all bull####.

You left out Bernard and Johnson who came back and have played excellent.

they need to play Carter and get him going.  He has physical abilities that they need desperately.  If you want them to play Phillips over him that’s fine but tell me what has Phillips done to get snaps over a rookie third round pick who was ascending before the injury?

I’ll hang up and listen.

What has Phillips done is his two or 3 games to not be activated. He hasn’t been playing bad football.

Now you answer me about Dorian?

Bernard and Johnson, there isn’t a player that looked like they could fill their roll when they were off. Milano and Carter are a whole different story.

McD has his pecking order, and the ones high up get a pass for playing bad ball.

Yeah I’ve watched that Douglas injury on the play and the rib shot definitely appears to be harder than Kupp “falling on” his knee.

Rapp was classic Rapp on that playing - just flying in at 100-mph, not even close to Kupp, shoulder right into Douglas ribs, and it’s right there that Douglas grimaces in pain.

At least Rapp WAS playing with aggression. Can't say that for the rest of the defense

That's what Dorian Williams brings too. Some aggression and explosiveness. It's been missed.

I’m not a film guy but from my position as Couch GM/HC/OC/DC I see a very vanilla defensive line that depends 100% on DL winning their matchups and 0% on scheme to help them do it. I don’t see many stunts, I don’t see many simulated pressures. All I see is 4 guys rushing, usually a contained rush, and hoping one of those guys wins a rep and gets some pressure. That’s pretty easy to defend against.

Would some of you guys please get of Milano’s jock? It’s completely obvious McD is just trying to get him lots of reps now to play himself into game shape and hopefully he’ll be close to the Milano of old by the time the playoffs roll around. It blows my mind that some people think a guy who hasn’t played in over a year is going to come in and be the Milano of old. I’m more than happy to let him get the rust off even if it means contributing to a loss or two. If we can get a healthy Milano playing close to what he used to that’s worth more than 5 Dorian Williams. IDK if it’s going to work out but it’s so easy to see the strategy here I’m surprised many of you don’t see it.

Elam must really suck for McD to say “we’ll see” when asked about him. I’ll echo what others have said - it’s not the talent it’s that McD doesn’t trust him to be in the right place all time. He values consistency above all else.

The combo of Elam, Bishop, Dorian Williams and maybe even using javon Solomon more would greatly increase the athletic ability and speed on defense.

Obviously that's a simplistic statement and clearly experience matters, but one has to wonder after the rams game, and with McDermott saying today they need to have more self reflection, things can't just stay the same but not to overcorrect, I would hope it's asked in the meeting rooms with McDermott if those guys need to get more reps.

I really hope Elam plays Sunday. At minimum I think it will help

Over the next 4 weeks I would really like to see more

Elam

Bishop

Cine

Ingram

Solomon

Williams

Ulofoshio

Carter

Hardy

Speed and range matters and it was lacking big time vs the rams

Elam is going to dress and probably be CB4 and only in on special teams (unless Ingram is getting constantly beat).  Ingram will be in over him.  Has been the case for 2 years now.  If Rasul or Benford go out, Ingram gets the call up.

Last time Elam got the start was against the Chiefs, I believe when he had a pick in 2022.  He's been in the doghouse and I kind of already know he's gone after next year.  Then maybe we will see him play and then determine whether it was because he wasn't working out right or personal issues between him and coaching.

Agree that Milano needs significant time

to shake off the rust. But why not split some reps with Dorian? Hasn’t Dorian earned it?

Elam literally started vs Miami a month ago

He started in the playoffs last year and had almost 2 int. He was hurt prior when he struggled vs the jags in London. That is why he went on ir

Elam started and rotated in his rookie year. By the end of his rookie year he was our best CB and completely blanketed Tyreek Hill. It was extremely impressive

All kinds of different media reported he was excellent in this years camp. They're not lying lol

The Elam narrative is just bizzare

Obviously something happened, it probably had something to do with butler and now here we go again....

Then cover 1 or other McDermott sycophants just make up stuff and pretend none of that happened.

I don't know what is going on but if he's not starting Sunday then Elams agent needs to tell obd to release him. Then simply promote Hardy , sign a young CB to the ps and move on.

He was our frickin 1st Rd pick. We all have eyes and understand he could've helped vs the rams. I don't get it

People keep repeating stuff that makes zero sense. " He's in the doghouse" , " he's just not good" etc

None of that is true. If he is in the doghouse, explain why? Because when he has played and is healthy he has been good.

The eye test shows that, his pedigree shows that, his draft position supports that, and his pff grade proved that

None of it makes sense

100%

The Elam narrative is bs. He's playing favorites for whatever reason and something else is going on

Now I don't think it's anything nefarious, McDermott is a good person. At least from everything I know he seems like a very good person, highly respected.

But something else is clearly going on with Elam.

Maybe it's tackling, maybe it's his study habits, maybe there is something personal going on, whatever it is, has very little to do with " earning it"

Same nonsense with Douglas starting vs KC last year in the playoffs limping around. Why wasn't Elam starting??? I haven't heard a single issue with Elam as far as character. So what is it? Douglas isn't bad but he's clearly lost a step this year. Again why isn't Elam even rotating in???

Why is KC in 22 playing all their rookies in the frickin AFC championship but Sean can't get his young defensive guys on the field. With a defense desperate for game changing speed and athletic ability

I'd argue better for the likes of Milano and Carter to get reps against NFC teams once the Bills have clinched the division, rather than hold them back until later in the season and have them rusty in the post season. And if they're still struggling week 18, they can get pulled for the divisional round.

I understand the #1 seed would be nice but the important thing is just being there. And I say this as someone who fears McDermott will not get the Bills over the hump. I wouldn't blame him for this one.

Not quite. He was playing very well and had a major injury. Injury doesn't equate to bust.

Well fair enough

but the point still stands. The staff knew we needed that elite player and went all out to get him.

The Steelers do not necessarily win the strength of victory tiebreaker. As I've said previously, if both teams lose this week and win the rest of their games then either the Bills or Steelers could win the strength of victory tiebreaker. It depends on how every other game goes in the next 4 weeks.

Yeah, I dunno man. I played around in the playoff machine a lot. The only thing that flipped the seeding was the Ravens game.  So /shrug. We'll see when we see. I don't really concern myself with these things much anyways. The seeding ends up what it ends up. I just like to play with the machine for some side fun.
