It’s pretty absurd

2020 and 2023 were his best chances at MVP out side of this season.

He’s had some bad luck including this year. If Saquan wasn’t a threat to break the rushing record Allen would be all but guaranteed to win. If Saquan breaks the record I honestly think it will be close to a toss up as to who wins. That’s some bad luck. How often does a running back break the all time rushing record?

2020 I thought Rodgers legitimately deserved it over Allen.

Last year was a joke though and Allen was robbed.

Saquon breaking the rushing record would be some accomplishment. However, to even be in the mix for mvp (provided Allen continues his strong play) he’d have to break that record with a game to spare. Takes some of the shine off it to do it in the last game with the one extra game. Just my opinion. Still would be a tremendous season, but more for OPOY for Saquon.

Take Saquon off the Eagles, and the show will go on to at least moderate success. Can’t say the same for Josh. Josh deserves it to this point, but things can change, so I can absolutely see them screwing him à la damar last year with the CPOY award.

Orlovsky made a good point in an interview i saw today.  He said the Bills don’t see the Shanahan style offense in the AFC.  McVay’s offense uses a lot of the same principles.  on a dry indoor field, with all his weapons back, Stafford was able to exploit the D and caused the Bills to have problems.

He said Detroit also uses many features of the Shanny style offense.  We can expect more problems unless they can fix things this week. Plus, Detroit just has really good offensive players.  scheme or not they are hard to defend.

McVay is credited with continuing the Shanahan offensive principles but McDaniel isn’t? lol I’d love orlovsky to explain that one to me

Idk if a rushing yardage record would move the needle much but the rushing td definitely would which he’s not gonna touch.

especially with Josh likely breaking his own 40TD consecutive season record

pretty sure Allen doesn't give two ***** about the MVP...  he knows what the goal really is

I know, but I care.

And I know a lot of other people do as well. In fact, I have an unhealthy obsession with it this year, because he's long overdue.

The Super Bowl is the priority, but I want that MVP for him!

At the moment it is more likley than the Superbowl.  Two more Alien Allen Accomplishments (AAA)  @Detroit and Jests on MNF, both with national audiences, to go with his prior AAA of KC, SF and @LARams should do it.

AAA (c) 2024

About the MVP: Allen put up the best fantasy football game ever by a QB.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5982189/2024/12/09/josh-allen-best-ever-qb-nfl-fantasy-football-performance/

And we lost... that right there tells you he is the MVP.

The other top QB performances since 2004 were all in blowout wins:

Nick Foles 2013, Eagles won 49-20

Aaron Rodgers, 2011, Packers won 49-23

Peyton Manning, 2013, Broncos won 49-27

Michael Vick, 2010, Eagles won 59-38

What was his total and breakdown (for those of us who were too cheap to buy a $1 monthly subscription)?

Josh had 51.88 fantasy points in the game Sunday.

The second best all time for a QB was George Blanda in 1961 (!!) which would have scored 49.72 points (had fantasy football existed then).

They also mentioned that the most fantasy points ever recorded in a game was Blanda's teammate Billy Cannon with 68 points also 1961.

How about them '61 Oilers?

Unless Saquon can get 2,004 yards IN FOURTEEN GAMES, he isn't breaking anything. 2,003 yards in 14 games is the real gold standard for rushing not 2,105 yards IN SIXTEEN GAMES. If Saquon needs 17 games to get 2,000 then it's a nice achievement but not the real record. Just like Dickerson doesn't have the real record either.

This Lions turf is horrible. Might as well play in cement.

I think the Lions put in a new turf in 2023 which was the season after Von tore his Acl.

I can’t speak to how good it is but I think it’s been better than that Thanksgiving game we remember.

Detroit doesn't use any Shanny anything. They use a coach that will go on 4th one too many times and QB that when he actually needs to be relied on,will throw an int.

They went 4 for 4 last week on 4th down. That means they've already run out of favorable odds.

Either the coach or Goff will F this game up.

They are front runners. It will end.

They have a QB who will throw interceptions WHEN pressured. If not pressured he will pick you apart with like 80% completion rate. Our d line needs to be better.

I’ve heard a lot about the entire Lions defense being hurt last week.  I haven’t heard anything about who/how many starters are expected back this week.  Does anyone know?

Not just that, but we’re seeing Cooper, Shakir and Hollins really develop with Allen into their roles as a truly legit 3-wide — especially when you factor in how multiple they can be with the run game / screen game, given Hollins blocking ability.

I do think they need to be smart about how they re-deploy Kincaid and Coleman, because Allen looks to have serious synergy with these 3 + Knox and the usage of a 6OL.

Coleman, I think is a bit easier to integrate, given he can be used as a big body contested catch guy and was showing WR2 ability before he got hurt.

Kincaid and Allen have been off all season, so hopefully they can get on track, because if they can.. good luck to any defense.

Its amazing what a great WR can do for an offense.  Cooper got 14 targets just like a #1 should.  Not this BS of everyone eats.

This is so true.  OJ ran 143.1 yards per game which is 12 yards per game more than Dickerson.  Saquon is having a great season but he is only averaging 124.8 yards per game.  That is not even top 10 in NFL history.  It's currently 14th. OJ has two seasons in the top 6.

Umm we play Miami twice a year. Isn't McDaniel the HC who wase hired from 49ers Shannys offensive coordinator? I would think that uses Shanny style offense.

I don't mind looking at the rushing record in the context of modern era. It was a different game when Dickerson and OJ were running. But anyway you look at it, he needs to outdo the guys on this list from the past 20 years, within the first 16.

I like the addition of Cooper a lot. He's big but so smooth. Radiates calm, makes the clutch catches. A real professional. If Coleman starts drawing attention, the two of them could complement each other very well.

Completely agree. Campbell is CRAZY aggressive (going for it from his own 30 etc.) It will fail.

I was wondering exactly that myself, and found some info here > https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/general/full-list-of-detroit-lions-injuries-latest-news-about-potential-returns/ar-AA1vyosO?ocid=BingNewsSerp

In summary - it looks like quite a few of the injured players on their D Line may well return for Sunday.  More detail below.

OT Taylor Decker (knee)

Despite his insistence immediately after the Colts game that the knee and ankle injuries weren’t serious enough to hold him out, Decker has now missed two consecutive games with the injury. That said, it certainly sounds like Decker may return to the lineup this week.

“I’m feeling better about Decker,” Campbell said.

DT Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring)

Onwuzurike suffered a hamstring injury late against the Bears and has not returned to the field since. He was considered a long-shot against the Packers, but it sounds like he has a chance of playing against the Bills this week.

“There’s a chance Levi could be back,” Campbell said.

DT DJ Reader (shoulder)

Reader played through a shoulder injury against the Bears on Thanksgiving, but did not play against the Packers. It’s unclear where he’s at right now, although his injury was not considered serious at the time.

DT Alim McNeill (concussion)

In the first half of last week’s game, McNeill left the field to be evaluated for a concussion. After a trip to the locker room, he returned to the field, only to be pulled from the game for the entire second half due to a “head” injury.

On Monday, Campbell confirmed McNeill is in concussion protocol, but seemed optimistic he could return soon.

“Mac’s gotta pass concussion protocol and everything. He did not take a step back, so as long as he can clear, that sounds positive,” Campbell said.

EDGE Josh Paschal (knee)

Campbell did not have an update on Paschal to start the week, but it’s worth noting that for last Thursday’s game against the Packers, Campbell said Paschal had a better shot of playing than Onwuzurike.

“I think Paschal has got a better shot than Levi,” Campbell said on November 30. “[...] I don’t know, I’m not real optimistic about either one of them playing (against the Packers), but I guess Paschal’s got a better shot.”

So either Paschal, too, has a good shot of playing this week, or it’s possible he had a setback.
