Imagine telling Bills and Lions fans back in 2016 that they’d be the hottest tickets in the 2024 season? On the flip side I wonder what the prices are for that "big important" Jets- Jags game this week 2 Quote

Nobody expects the Bills to win every single game as that is just not possible. What has fans concerned is the performance by the defense yesterday as it was a reminder of the playoff failures over the years. How can this team get to a Super Bowl much less win one if the defense constantly gets destroyed by good offenses/QB's with better HC's then McDermott. Over the years history has shown this to be a fact. This rams game was pretty different than those imo. We’ve watched those chiefs playoff games where guys were running around wide open all night long but this one was mostly Stafford making incredible throws and guys making incredible catches for 60 straight minutes 1 1 Quote

Fair enough, but everyone's expectation was that this was a reset year and that it would take some time to reset things , esp on D (eg. next year not having a third of the cap tied up in players either not even on the team anymore or players they cannot get rid of yet) . We all knew this going in so to piss and moan incessantly when we knew there would be weaknesses on D this year is just annoying. Gosh I expect the fan house to come crashing in after the Lions do exactly the same thing on Sunday. bunch of whiners. Rams/Lions are loaded on offense. Hey, lets just get to the freakin playoffs healthy and light up some very average AFC defenses (Ravens, Chiefs, whatever weakling comes out of the South) and see if the O can get us to the title game. People need to reset their expectations to what we had at season's start and realize how good this team really is relative to what we were expecting. bunch of whiners. go bills. 3 3 Quote

Lions remind me of a better 2023 dolphins…they throttle bad teams but are consistently locked into super tight games against good ones. I’d be pretty shocked if it’s not a close game 2 Quote

I mentioned this earlier, but I think the Bills finish 3-1 or 2-2. I see the Lions game as a loss. Depending on if they need the season finale against the Pats for seeding that may be a win or loss. Depends on if they rest starters and treat it as a preseason game or not. I do think they will win at home vs the Pats and Jets. I see 12-5 or 13-4. That probably gets them the #2 seed. We will see how it plays out. 1 Quote

I hate giving the defense credit for anything after that one haha but I have to say the coverage was pretty tight at times and forced Stafford to hit ridiculous throw/catches despite absolutely 0 pass rush. He hit them all anyway but still 🤣 if we can force Goff into those kind of situations I don’t think he’ll be close to as successful as Stafford was.. I just assumed everything would look super easy with a game that bad from our dline Edited December 9 by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote
Goin Breakdown Posted December 9 Posted December 9 This was the only game that I really felt we would lose, matchup wise, during this stretch after the bye week. After last night's defensive performance I am not any less confident in my prediction. This is not knee jerk just how I've alway felt; however last night didn't help any. But then again...any given Sunday right!? Quote

Yep, start with a hall of fame QB, two top ten receivers and a top five running back, and then have one of the brightest offensive minds in the league call the plays. Once you have all that (which most teams do, right?), then play a great game, block well and make every contested catch, and you too could beat the bills by 2 pts! In all seriousness, didn't the ravens show the world how to destroy us right before we won the next seven in a row? It's a week to week league. Sometimes you get outschemed and take the L. At least we didn't roll over. 2 1 1 Quote

Even if our defense plays exactly the same I don’t think Goff makes some of those throws Stafford made without turning the ball over once or twice Just now, JustHewIt said: Yep, start with a hall of fame QB, two top ten receivers and a top five running back, and then have one of the brightest offensive minds in the league call the plays. At least we didn't roll over. People are hung up on the ‘the rams had the 20th ranked offense’ thing for some reason. All their impact offensive players missed a bunch of time The lions would not have beaten that rams team yesterday Stafford was absolutely on fire. They met week 1 and went to OT but Stafford was not as on in that one 1 Quote
BillsFan130 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 6 hours ago, Nihilarian said: Unlike the Rams who had the 20th or so offense, and defense. The Detroit Lions have the #1 offense in points scored, and #2 in yards. Their defense is #2 in points allowed, and #10 in yards allowed. The difference is the Lions aren't playing to stay alive and pulled everything out of their bag of tricks to win that game. However, the Rams just showed the world how to destroy that Buffalo defense. All we Bills fans can do is hope that the Bills find a Buffalo pass rush for this game. Because they didn't have one at all for the Rams. Yep- although I think the blueprint has been out on how to shred this defence for a while. Bills want you to go 10-12 plays and be perfect. If teams stay committed to the run and quarterbacks understand zone coverage and stay patient, it's a very simple defence to shred 1 Quote

zow2 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I'm just going to try and sit back and enjoy the game. Heck the Lions have an excellent chance to be the NFC Super Bowl rep. This might be as close to a Super Bowl type game as the Bills play in, who knows? Hope not. I said yesterday during the Rams game it felt like a Championship game at times...(late Sunday window, big announcing team, crowd was split in half, electric atmosphere, the Super Bowl was in SoFi Stadium fairly recently so it looked familiar, Allen was going crazy, etc..) Just an entertaining game for the nation to watch. 1 Quote

Gregg Posted December 9 Posted December 9 The Lions will be wearing black jersey's this week. The Bills will either be white over blue or all-white. Quote

That has to be corrected, and I think they will do a better job. It remains to be seen if the "beat up" Detroit defense can handle the Bills O. When I've watched Detroit recently their D still looks pretty good and aggressive, even without some important players. Another concern has to do with timing. The Bills landed at 3:45am this morning. The Lions have a nice 10 day break to heal up and for game prep. Plus the Bills have to fly over there (thankfully a very short flight). Advantage Detroit. Edited December 9 by zow2 Quote

Gosh, what a bunch of whiners. go bills. Some of us actually understand that the goal is to win the Super Bowl, not just make the playoffs. Our coach is an idiot, and he's wasting the career of the best football player to ever live, and it's infuriating. 1 1 Quote

Not 8. He did great, we lost. Onto Detroit. They are so banged up, we have a chance. Not having Coleman is a problem. The problem for me Captain obvious is the defense. They’ve played well, but crapped the bed yesterday. Quote
Logic Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I tend to think the Bills will lose this one, dropping them to 10-4, and all the talking heads will breathlessly ask "what's wrong with the Bills?", and obituaries will be written, and fickle fans will shout "FIRE McDERMOTT!!!".... ...and then the Bills will win the final three games, finish at 13-4 and be the number two seed, and make the AFC Championship game. Football fans are prisoners of the moment. It's just who they are. The Bills could lose another frustrating game again this week and STILL finish as the second best team in the AFC and host 2-3 playoff games. I'd say "relax", but I know people won't, and with how frustrating yesterday's outcome was, I won't blame them. I just don't have the stomach to stick around for the bitching in the week following a loss. 2 1 Quote
