He doesn't come from the offensive side of the ball but what about Mike Vrabel as a proven retread.

I think Gruden is much more of an offensive mind.  Vrabel would be reasonable but I'd want him to keep Brady.  I think the only way mcd gets let go is if we implode the first round of the playoffs and/or if Josh goes to Terry and says he doesn't have confidence in him anymore.

You guys are crazy and so is anybody who thinks Belichick isn't an instant upgrade. The last time someone gave him a great QB, he brought home 6 Lombardi's and stop fooling yourselves if you think it was all TB!2, go take a look at the defensive rankings for his SB runs, then talk the smack. I say it again and again - numbers don't lie. We will get hammered this week by Detroit but don't worry, we look like world beaters for the rest of the garbage games left and people will start talking how good the Bills are. When we get in the playoffs again against Mahomes, Wilson, Jackson, Herbert - see what Stafford did last week? Going to see it again because that coach is gonna die on that hill and so is 17's career if he doesn't get into the owners ear at some point. (Philip Rivers? Dam Marino? Jim Kelly?)

Next year Allen will be 29 and has nothing but early exits and nonsense to show for it. Division titles are garbage, you need the ring, period. I can't believe how many homers defend McD like he has accomplished anything other then draft the guy that has been the only thing literally saving his job so far. Seriously, what is the Bills record without Allen?? How many passes does this guy get?

I swear to God, it's like when the message board was at OBD and listening to everyone defend Levy like he was the next coming after JJ embarrassed him -twice.... the more things change

Sorry for the rant - just frustrated

If we play Jackson in the playoffs we'll win because McD knows how to slow him down, and because Jackson gags in the playoffs every year.  Wilson and the Steelers offense doesn't scare me one bit.

As for what Mcd's record would be without Allen, what would Reid's be without Mahomes?  Or any other coach with a great QB?

I think both McDermott and Beane are here for a while. IMHO. Just guessing but I think Terry likes the stability both men bring to the Bills FO as opposed to the clown show going on over at Sabre land.

I think last night showed the Sabres problem is not coaching, not even GM.  They brought in talented guys, but there is no one on that roster with any heart.  They fold like a cheap suit whenever they get into a stressful situation.  Last night was a prime example.  If I'm Adams and Ruff I make it clear any guy that does not want to play physical hockey is either on the bench or gone.  They need a captain like the Rangers got years ago in Messier; having Dahlin as captain is ridiculous.

Sure, the play calling was suspect, the D didn't even show up, the ST's was a mess, McD made some crucial mistakes, etc. but it's better to get it out of their system now before we hit the post season where it's a "one and done" format.

If I were optimistic this guy would change, this is a great outlook to have. I just don't see it. Two dud games this year, Rams and Ravens, and a game lost from boneheaded coaching, the Texans game. All three of those games are huge indictments on McDermott to go along with with his history of bad decision-making and his team showing up unprepared. The odds that this team will now lock-in and the coach will learn to make good decisions are very very low. He is who he is. Sometimes things get stale. Teams who make these mistakes and get out-physicaled weekly just do not win Super Bowls.

I can't figure them out. Two years ago, they had something like 93 points and just missed the playoffs. I believe it was by one or two points. I thought last year they would take the next step and make it, but they regressed. This year seems like an extension of last year.

This year at least you can take th coaching excuse off the table.  Ruff is as experienced as they come.

If we play Jackson in the playoffs, King Henry will absolutely shred that nickel.. again. Jackson is the least of our worries. As for Steeltown, they are running the ball very effectively as well, with a future HOF QB and a nasty defense - this is not last years Steelers.

and as for any other coach without a great QB -  Nix Purdy?

No excuse - you have this generations goat, too many passes - sorry.

Yep, I think ownership and GM were very pleased with the progress of all the talent they amassed and were counting on them to ascend while getting better goaltending too.   As it turns out, in true Buffalo fashion, all those guys simply had career seasons at the same time.  In the final week they had a head to head game with Florida and lost 3-2.   Then missed the playoffs by a point to Florida.

And what have the Broncos and Niners done with those 2 guys.  Won anything yet?    We get the Ravens we'll focus on Henry and Jackson will gag as he always does.  Steelers could be tougher.

I actually think the Steelers and Ravens would be tougher games then the Chiefs. The Chiefs don't look as dominant as they have in the past despite their record. It would still be a tough game especially at Arrowhead, but I think the Steelers and Ravens would be the Bills biggest challenge in the AFC playoffs.

It's ok.

I love the Bills, but sports are entertainment not real life.

If we miss out on Ben Johnson just to fire McD next year I will lose my mind. Johnson has been groomed for this position and whatever team gets him will be getting the next great NFL HC for the next 20 years.

If McD makes an early exit this year we need an offensive minded HC with great play calling and half time adjustments. Ben Johnson would be the best HC hire Buffalo ever made. His play calling is the best in the NFL and his play design is just amazing.

Giving up on a season at 10-3 is wild.

Could you imagine sharing a foxhole with OP?

See the big picture. It's not about 10-3. Don't be "regular season" guy.  It's about losing every year in the division round.  It's about going to a SB, not settling for your yearly reg season faux Lombardi.  It's about replacing a really nice guy who constantly makes stupid game day mistakes.  But the #1 reason to consider moving on from McD is he's wasting the greatest qb I've ever seen play.

He may or may not turn out to be a great HC. They were saying the same things about Daboll a few years ago when he had a strong offense with Allen. Look at him now. Going from Allen to Jones is like going from a Porshe to tricycle. Detroit is loaded with offensive talent. Say he goes to the Jets for example. He won't look like an offensive genius at least not until he can get a QB. Even then who knows how it will play out.

Nobody was saying Daboll was going to be an unbelievable head coach. He had just kind of earned his stripes from doing the job as a coordinator. Ben Johnson is somebody that looks like he could be a coaching genius. Much like Sean McVay when he was coming up.

These "fire McDermott" responses after any loss at all are more predictable than the sun coming up in the morning.

They are tiresome beyond words.
