I do think if McDermott fails again in the post season its justified to look around.

Problem is that's into the Playoffs, and the good Head Coaching candidates are likely to gone.

Now this is big business, and there are meetings that take place behind closed doors to where said candidates could be told to hold out for the job. There are always margins.

McDermott is not entitled to Allen's entire career if he's not winning Super Bowls. This is Allen's 7th season.

McD is not going to get any "good fortune" defensively with the way he runs his zone. Nacua absolutely eviscerated Sean's zone tonight.  He was open all night. Throw in our usual mediocre pass rush and game over.  Groot, AJE, Von and Ed combined for a whopping ZERO sacks against an almost 37 yr old qb.  Embarrassing.....

It’s amazing. How did the Bills amass 10 wins with such a sorry lot ?They’ll certainly not win again this season. Welp, at least there’s virtual golf until spring comes around !

I disagree.  I think he's a good coach and I think the Bills will fail in the playoffs again because there are other teams with more talent.  Other than QB, we don't have an elite position group on this team.  McD (with a lot of help from Josh) is the reason we're even getting into the postseason.  Beane needs to give him more to work with.

Terry loves having McDermott has his HC. Same with Beane as his GM. Neither one is going anywhere anytime soon. IMHO.

Bill Belichick is the most overrated HC of all time

Well at least he has proven he can win the big one (multiple times) with a solid QB.

I’m a huge McD fan as he’s a great galvanizer of men and has a history of consistently winning.

However, if we fall short of the AFCC then I’d consider hopping on the “Get rid of him” bandwagon.

We had many issues that could have derailed last season and he got the team to finish 11-6 after being 6-6 going into the bye.

2022 we finished the season 13-3* after being 6-3.

The guy can get this team to play. Sure, a large part of that is because of Josh but keeping 53 men motivated and driven collectively is the key component of a head coach.

This season when it comes to playoffs, is fair for it to be a make or break imo.

I agree.  McD is great, the issues are the high-pressure end of game situations.  Was hoping they would resolve by now, but nope, nothing's really changed.  Only way to make a playoff/SB run is to out-Allen everyone and build up a huge lead because the DL and end of game situational awareness are awful.

I have no faith that if this team has a slim lead at the end of the game and the other team gets the ball, that the Bills defense isn't right back to extreme prevent playing 20 yards off every WR.

Bring in 70+ y/o belichick that is probably only coming back to get his son a job then retiring lol tbd has officially lost it

Hiring an over 70 year old ‘rode the coattails of a qb’ coach to replace a coach who is being accused of just riding the qbs coattails haha brilliant move

Could not agree more!!!

Only thing that matters is where the owner is at - at the end of the day.

Do people think he just comes in and keeps the same coaching/players and just runs it back?

Say hello to Matt Patricia running the offense. Maybe he brings his idiot son to run STs or something.

Literally every single defender on this team except Elam is best suited for nickle/dime zone. If we're going to switch coaches, then presumably we'd bring in someone with a similar scheme, otherwise it's a total tear down defensively and 1-2 years of Josh's prime down the drain.

Not interested in Belichick, but in that mold I AM very interested in Mike Vrabel.

edit:

And if Daboll gets fired in NY, I am SUPER INTERESTED in bringing Vrabel in as HC and Daboll back as OC.

Easy transition for Josh, an upgrade at game managing HC. And I believe the 2 know each other from New England.

Not that I am trying to drive McD out of town, but if you want a guy that has experience taking a team on the verge of winning over the top then hire Gruden.  He and Josh would be an interesting pair.

Another coach with experience is Pete Carroll. Won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks and a National Championship with USC. Plus, he is not that far removed from coaching. With that said I expect McDermott isn't getting fired anytime soon.

lol if riding the coattails of a QB got him 6 super bowls then you can’t be against him potentially and successfully riding the coattails of another all time great!

I wouldn't say riding the coattails. He was funneling Brady the defensive calls for the first three super bowls when Brady didn't even have a 2 to 1 TD to INT ratio.

That doesn't make the case to hire Belichek because it wasn't good coaching, just cheating, but he wasn't riding the coattails.  More like working the puppet.

I'll ride or die with McD before following a cheater like that.   Character in sports matters.

hBen Johnson.  I don't want any retreads. Josh doesn't get a revolving door of ocs. I think the more relevant conversation is the evaluation of talent in the draft.  We haven't drafted very well in terms of the d line.  This game isn't a one off.  They consistently don't pressure the opposing qb.  They get gashed on the ground.  When you're entire philosophy is built around just rushing 4 it's not going to get very far with this group.

there is one major reason why Belichick didn't get a gig last year: he wants a commitment to name his son HC in waiting

No thank you!

You know this to me true?  How?

not doubting it, but I haven’t heard that before.  I do doubt that any team would ever agree to that
