It has the last few years.  No reason to believe it won't again.  Past few playoffs= D and HC game-management failures.  I keep thinking it will change, no idea why it doesn't.  McD is outthinking himself at the end of games at the wrong time (declining the penality), and not thinking enough at the other times (passing at 1st and goal).

I disagreed with the decline, but I think analytics probably say the value of potentially pushing them into a punt scenario adds more points than them going for it on 4th and 7.  At the very least, its close enough to make a preference.

yes,  it does every year. WHY would anyone think it wont be the reason they looses again this year???   the offense has not been the issue in the playoff losses it been the defense the whole time....   if this defensive coach cant fix it,  it time to find someone that can....

Arizona, Miami, SF, and Indy while all under .500, are not "bad teams".  Thats 5 games against teams that are all 1 game under .500 and capable of flipping a switch and playing really well.

Under .500 equates to "bad" for me, but each to their own.

Bills caught what is, in hindsight, a schedule break, facing the:

AFC East (obviously every year)

AFC South (train-wreck)

NFC West (worst they've been in a while?)

Hey, beat the teams you're supposed to, can't argue with that.

McD needs to swallow his pride because his defense has failed Josh and the rest of this team every year in the biggest moments

Call up Bill and beg him to come on as a consultant for the remainder of the season so he can put his fingerprints on this unit

The Bills aren't getting to the Super Bowl with this defense. It is impossible to think this defense will hold up in 3 straight playoff games. This is why the 1 seed was so important.  Maybe the D holds up at home with a crowd behind them, but the road efforts in LA and Baltimore exposed this defense. The Lions game might get ugly. Only Allen could keep the Detroit game close.

Need the #2 seed. That way they get WC weekend and the divisional round at home. Hope someone knocks off KC in the divisional round. As of right now WC weekend looks like this in the AFC.

Broncos at Bills

Chargers at Steelers

Ravens at Texans

I'm wondering if clinching the division and playoffs this early caused any of this for the defense. They have played well enough going 10-2 to have won this game with ease with this offense. Will have to wait and see how motivated they are after this lack luster performance

Baltimore game I put 0 stock in…the defense was ravaged and we have a history of holding Lamar in check. If those games exposed the defense why did only one other team beat us and almost blow it with a terrible second half? Lol

Rams at full strength are a really well balanced offense and their qb needed to have the game of his career and a couple amazing plays by WRs to pull that one out.

defense may be mediocre against the afc field but I still think the bills have a good chance at going on a run. Those chiefs tackles being terrible plays so well into our deficiencies

No. I think you might see a couple high 20 games given up by the defense but Allen will be too much and we should win.

My only real concern is health. I think Douglas banged up his knee but I don't think it's too serious. Rest him up

Plus I want to see Elam play anyway...

If they're fully healthy or very close to fully healthy I stand by my prediction.

Buffalo and Allen are going to completely eviscerate everyone in the playoffs in similar fashion to the 89 49ers.

Allen scored 42 points in 21 minutes lol....

If I have a fear , it's McDermott trying to put a ceiling on Allen and " limit the other teams possessions" etc

But I'm more confident after yesterday. And I can promise you that the other AFC contenders are terrified

Do the lions next lol it has been mostly the same for them.  The statement win I guess is Vikings with Sam Darnold as opposed to the would’ve been undefeated mahomes chiefs

Wow to the OP, so true, so factual and so objective.

I cannot think of any instances this year when the sub par talent on this defense has made a big, consequential play this season. None at all.

Who cannot agree with the obvious factual statements in the OP, that there is "no elite talent on D to make a play from time to time when needed" and that  "we have no one to [play above the scheme] do the same to them on D"?

What a shame that this entire season has been lost because of such a horrible season by the defense. No big plays when needed.  They never get a timely take away.  Have not put any pressure on any QBs in timely situations.  And have made no big stops when needed. How can McClappy call this an NFL defense?

Almost like someone forget to tell Beane and McDermott. "Hey, how about we get a defense that can come through at least once in a while?"

Haha I’m assuming this is sarcasm based on the font changes? 😂.  I have to say though benford not being talked about as an elite player is getting a little ridiculous whether this is sarcasm or not so it seems like a good time to bring that up lol

The 1994 49ers lost 44-10 to the eagles

The 2020 bucs lost 38-3 to a team

The 21 rams lost 3 games in a row and lost in some blow outs....

The 85 frickin bears got carved up and blown out

There are numerous examples of this over and over times 100

They're fine

The goal right now is to stay healthy and get the 1 seed or get a defacto bye week 18 where the pats game doesn't matter

STOP IT!!!!!!!!!

You are ruining the Haters' fun! They are like hungry sharks, have not had almost anything to eat in months, with 7 wins in a row.  They are in a feeding frenzy today, as they feel the entire ocean is full of chum today for them to feast on.

Yum, yum, yum give me some more chum...

They wait for and cherish the losses, which are few and far between since McBeane/McClappy arrived.

But you just shove meaningful, relevant facts in their face??

It is Christmas, Kelly to Allen, so have a heart, feel some compassion for them. They don't get many chances to feed.

For context, the 1990 bills lost a late season shootout type game vs the Warren Moon oilers on the road

It wasn't quite this big as far as scoring but similar

have to hope for flukey turnovers  McDermott's teams basically operate on other team screwing up

We lost yesterday because of a blocked punt, so I guess the Rams operate the same way.
