Because the Rams were gashing them on Runs. They have to send people for run blitz. Also the front 4 is not getting there, partly becuase McVay use moving pocket to help his O-Line.

they seemed to be in Man from the get go. I don’t think they started in zone and switched. I noticed them in man immediately on the first drive. 
 

By the end of this game, they actually held the Rams’ run game in check. I think Williams had like 80 yards but on like 30 carries.
 

The problem was they just couldn’t stop Puca from converting on 3rd down. and they couldn’t get any pressure. 
 

I am not sure the dolphins game is a good comp, because I believe the Rams had a lot of missing guys on the oline until recently. Rams are now fully healthy.

This thread is 100% what I'm worried about.   Our offense can be borderline unstoppable.   Unfortunately our defense can make offenses look unstoppable too.

Of course it will.  It’s still an undersized reactive defense.  Good QB’s with a physical run game playing playoff football will absolutely gash this defense like the past 5 years.  This year will be no different.

Is it time to consider Douglas age 30, Milano age 30, and Taron age 28 are washed? If so who do we draft to replace them because Dorian & Elam both being 23 clearly aren’t trusted by McDermott.

I don't know how great your offense can perform. But getting an opponent offense to punt once (I don't count the last one) without getting any turnovers is not a formula to win.

 

Probably it goes back to the point of no elite talent on D to make a play from time to time when needed. We can get all 11 guys on D to play well to stop most teams but when there are offfensive guys play above the scheme, we have no one to do the same to them on D.

No reason to think vs better teams with our history so far

If your a defensive HC and your defense keeps losing you playoff games...that's a terrible look.

 

I appreciate Hamlin's story. It's inspirational. But he should not be starting on defense for any team with SB aspirations. 

 

And stop keeping younger players on the bench who played well. Just because experienced old guys are back.

Bills Defense needs a gamewrecker, but we never draft high enough to get one… so we either need to get lucky, or McDermott needs to figure out how to make due without a Chris Jones. 
 

If the Defense pulls this again in the playoffs, I don’t know how you pay anyone on that side of the ball except Rousseau and maybe Bernard.  
 

Extend Cooper and Shakir, bring back Hollins and Ty.. Offense is set.. and then draft replacements for a bunch of guys on Defense next year.

Rousseau is a good player, kind of unbelievable he didn’t register a single statistic today. He had a bad game, it happens. I scoff at the idea of paying him $25M/yr though. Too rich for what he brings game after game in my opinion. Anything above an $18M AAV and I let him sign with someone else, draft his replacement.

I see this all of this except the Chiefs are beating the Ravens. This is the absolute best case scenario for the Bills.

Well no team in the AFC has the elite WRs to match what the Rams just did except maybe the Bengals. 

 

While there is plenty of blame to go around let's not forget that Nacua and Kupp both made a couple circus catches. Stafford didn't throw his usual once a game lame duck interception.

 

In order for the Rams to beat the Bills: Their Offense had to play their best game in years, shotty officiating, Allen missing a couple wide open throws and questionable decision making from the coaches. That was just to win by 2. If the Bills make it to the Superbowl this year it will because of their unstoppable offense rather than the crappy McDermott Defense we always see
