Also, I would hope that McDermott, as a defensive head coach, would step in and make adjustments if Babich seemed unable to, which he seemingly was yesterday. Either he decided to let Babich continue with the same approach, or he tried to intervene without making any discernable changes. Either is concerning. A big part of it was the game script. The Bills invite the run because they know that eventually the opposing offense will have to abandon the run and pass the ball to keep up with Josh Allen and the Bills offense, making them play into our atrengths and keeping them one dimensional. That works a majority of the time. But the offense stalled early and the Rams got up by multiple scores (including a special teams TD). That allowed them to continue to run as much as they want, and then rely on a talented QB to make throws to two talented receivers when necessary. It was the perfect storm, but you would also like to see the defense be more nimble. But, the defensive line just continues to suck for some reason. They disappear in every big game, it seems. We need to just move on from all of them over the next couple of years and reset it with new players. Oliver is too small and streaky. Rousseau disappears at times and never gets to the QB with any consistency. Jones is old and ineffective now. Miller is old and not what he used to be. Epenesa is a depth player. Blow the line up, I say. Bring in some free agents and draft picks so we aren't seeing the same thing every year. 1 Quote

But, as long as we have Superman, the Bills can win against better unless McDermott's clock issues and our defense explodes like Krypton sending us too far away from a chance to win. after last nights Defensive "gem" this will be a tough out in Detroit. Can we win? sure. But Detroit's offense is better than LA's and so is their D we do have 17 though. Quote

The only guys I could think of were Warren Moon and Phillip Rivers. Both of those guys had multiple Hall of Fame quarterbacks to get past on a yearly basis in the AFC. Moon had Jim Kelly, John Elway and Dan Marino. Rivers had Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger. There is also Randall Cunningham, Tony Romo, and Dan Fouts. And of course, Marino made it but never won it. Quote

They just need them to show up a few times a game. That’s it. Literally, 1 more stop and they have a chance to win. The difference this game is they didn't get that turnover. Other games they still letting teams march down the field but then get a turnover to stop them from scoring. Or they do a decent job in the redzone to hold to some field goals. They can't always rely on turnovers. This D is not very good. It has moments but overall not very good. Edited December 10 by Scott7975 1 Quote
