Is he not a head coach that specializes on the defensive side of the ball? What benefit did he provide to the Buffalo Bills today? 1 1 1 1 Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted December 9 Posted December 9 3rd and 17 with 3 minutes left, I bet we had a better than 50% chance of winning. Play a gutless conservative 10 yard cushion and give them 12 yards so they can go for it on 4th and 5 where you send a 4 man rush that didn’t get home the entire game. Then we probably still have a 35% chance of winning if we kept all 3 timeouts for the last minute, but it drops to 7.7% after idiotically burning that timeout. 2 4 Quote

mike22nc Posted December 9 Posted December 9 7 minutes ago, MJS said: Exactly. We were already in almost guaranteed loss territory by then. Down two scores with 1 minute left. Everything had to go perfectly. And it didn't. Shocker. Your job as the head coach is to maximize your ability to have a chance at that point. He made sure they didn't with that timeout decision. How difficult is that to understand? 1 2 Quote
Coach Tuesday Posted December 9 Posted December 9 This game came down to third down defense and the blocked punt. McD’s weird decisions and the weird officiating were factors in the loss but not the main ones. 2 1 Quote
DuckyBoys Posted December 9 Posted December 9 might be time to acknowledge the lack of talent on the defense Small linebackers , no impact d line and slow dbs Dragging along overpaid Von doesn't help Most talented guy on defense been on McDermott's sh1t list since being drafted and doesn't even play 1 Quote
Nelius Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I’m sorry but nothing is going to memory hole that time out and Josh’s reaction to that timeout, certainly not this quickly. Josh Allen, cyborg unicorn, knew immediately that McD ripped that win from him the moment he called that TO. And then they had a little impromptu sideline chat. This board isn’t imagining things. McD can’t match Allen’s brilliance. 3 1 2 1 Quote

Nearly a whole game was left. The defense and game management were what cost the game. How we hang 42 points on any team and lose is inexcusable. 2 1 1 Quote
Steptide Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Trust me, we all know the defense sucked today. Fact is, we still had a chance at the end and our hc called a timeout which essentially gave us no chance to win by a fg. 2 Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I really want to see this offense with a different defensive mindset. I hate how passive aggressive we always are. Obviously I hope we just win the Super Bowl this year but if we don’t, I wasn’t someone else. Hire Belicheck or make Brady the HC. I want to keep the offense the way it is but I want a guy that understands basic gameday management. McDermott is good Monday through Saturday, on gameday he’s horrendous 1 1 1 Quote

Complete let down on all phases. Quote
That's No Moon Posted December 9 Posted December 9 11 minutes ago, Fleezoid said: The defense was gashed all day by a 6-6 team. That's coaching. Or a crappy roster. One of those is true. Let's be honest, the Rams are 6-6 because both Kupp and Nacua were hurt at the same time. They are by far the best 6-6 team in football and NOBODY in the NFC wants to face them in January. Quote
BillMafia716ix Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Defense was horrible today. We couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down all day. Von was our best dlineman today. Everybody else was invincible. Quote
stlbills13 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Rasul got dominated all day. That worries me. Then he got hurt. The defensive line may as well not have made the trip. The play calling was awful too. There were 3 huge coaching blunders in the last 5 minutes but the defensive performance was historically bad 1 Quote

It’s McD’s side of the ball. And he chose Babich. And McD as a Head Coach has the power to change anything or take over anything he wants. How does this not fall on McD? This is the same game so many of you played with Frazier. Who hired and kept him? It’s on McD. It always has been. 3 Quote
nedboy7 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 McD's ***** D was 4th in points allowed prior to this game. Just for some perspective in the post game meltdown. You wanna criticize him that he cant win against KC in the playoffs, thats fine. But some of these takes are just garbage. 1 1 2 Quote
Yobogoya! Posted December 9 Posted December 9 11 minutes ago, Cray51 said: Babich called a poor game and the team didnt execute. Against the Chiefs Babich implemented plenty of man coverage and it helped. Tonight, he played wayyy too much off man zone, allowing the screen and jet sweep game to work, and then sat back in zone on 3rd down and let Stafford pick them apart. People can say McD's scheme, Babich is a puppet blah blah. Babich called a bad game. He is responsible for the playcalling on D. I mean there’s almost no chance Babich has the freedom to retool the defense to his own specifications. This is the same scheme we’ve been running for 8 years, with the same positives and DEFINITELY the same negatives. Somehow these guys have to figure out a way to scheme up pressure. Even our blitzes did nothing today. 1 Quote
Chicharito Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Soft zone killed us today. I don’t understand why you stay in that the look when they had us beat all game in it. 1 2 Quote
