For the love of god it would have been 4th and 6 ............ they eventually went for it on 4th and 5.  It made exactly a 1 yard difference accepting or declining the penalty.  The Rams were always going to go for it.  We had to stop them and we didn't.

But also the extra 3rd down play gave them 40 more seconds to run off the clock which absolutely mattered at the end. If the Bills had managed the end of the game appropriately we wouldn't have even needed to onside kick. We would have had all 3 timeouts and like 1:40 left after we scored our final TD.

Our decisions in the final minutes turned a winnable game into a certain loss.

Then you are fine saying the only chance you are going to have is a successful onside kick rather than either a successful onside kick OR getting the ball back with limited time after being able to call 3 defensive timeouts.

I don't need to do the math on it to know which one is better decision. Again, it isn't subjective.

Given we hadn’t stopped them all day what were the odds we do so in the last minute?

Accepting the penalty on the Rams drive.

Then, calling TIME OUT.  Could have rushed to the line there & still been able to stop the clock.  That ended the game.  Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Everyone is missing the point.  I learned long ago that losing to an NFC team actually helps our seeding.

no

3 timeouts are far more valuable in that situation than whatever 8-10seconds are going to run off the clock between downs

Expand

Timeouts are more valuable, but there’s no way that ball was being spotted and players lined up in anything close to 8-10 seconds.

They hadn’t stopped the Rams all game. The Head Coach should know that. It was a given that they were either converting it or getting a lot of yards.

Not to mention the time waste.

I just listened to McD's presser.  He said in warmups the Ram kicker was shaky beyond the 38 (or it may have been from more than 38 yds).  In any event, because of that he believed McV would have gone for it and not kicked the FG.  That's why he took the penalty.

Literally everything about this game was the Bills’. HORRIFIC defense. Starts and ends there — full stop. @Success

I can agree with this though it sounds like Josh might have audibles into it

He said he didn’t. He said he ran the play called.

Stop trying to insulate the HC from his responsibilities.

Dan Campbell does some great or ***** it up and no one says, “he doesn’t call the plays” or “he doesn’t coach special teams.”

They say, “that’s on Campbell.”

McD doesn’t get to get away from any of the sloppiness of game management or the defensive suck or the constant wrong # of people on the field.

If it’s not his fault the defense sucks, or ST ***** up, or we ***** up the timeouts, then what the ***** does he even do here?

I understand your reason for saying that as a fan of the Bills having watched the game. If that is the mentality of your head coach, it's a problem.

I wish someone would have asked him if he was aware that Stafford averaged nearly 11 yards per attempt today.  Maybe him throwing again wasn’t a good idea?

Im not putting the game on McD’s timeout. I’m putting it on our players giving up ridiculous plays over and over again by losing their one-on-one matchups. Something you people keep ignoring.
