I'd be more than happy to place a friendly wager that he defends that decision in any and all press conferences after the game.

Still waiting for his accountability from the 13 second coaching malfeasance.

I would be happy to accept but the line between ‘explain’ and ‘defend’ is so thin.

Im sure he’ll explain it.

But I doubt he ever does it again in that situation.

One thing i’ll say about McD is that he tends to learn from mistakes.

In other news ............. what the hell happened to Oliver and his 9 plus sacks from last year?  Did he forget how to tackle a QB?  Where the hell have our DT's been?  Is it a different scheme up front? What is going on?

I mean if I know I'm gonna score obviously I'm gonna do it

But for the sake of what I am assuming you're asking, not on first or second down. It's too risky when you have downs to play with that will likely take off less than 10 seconds total

I also doubt QB sneak was the play call, guessing they gave Allen an option to change/take a chance if he felt it

Of course you never know for sure but somebody decided (maybe Allen) that the probability of success generously outweighed the potential risks. Using the TO was of course mindless.

This man is a thief of joy. A stealer of dreams. It’s disgustingly billsy that we’re stuck with this shitheap and have one of the best qbs of all time.

We had over 15 sacks from our DT's last year.  We have (unless I missed someone) 4 total sacks from out DT's this year.

Not super hard to predict there would be no actual response to those pretty simple questions

You can’t stay on topic….go ahead and cry and yell at the clouds, he’s not getting fired.

And he should have used his timeouts with 3 and a half minutes to go. You want to use timeouts

A. when you can save the full 35 seconds

B. On defense, because offense has more control of clock mgt. E.g. spike the ball, hurry up, get out of bounds,..

It amazes me that coaches wait to call timeouts when they will only save 15 or 20 seconds.

The anti McDermott people have been waiting for today for months. Quite sad the lives people live.

Do you really believe this? You think some of us get a sick satisfaction out of watching the greatest player in Bills history lose games like this because of his coach? I'm mortified right now. Any confidence I had that McDermott had finally figured out his close game problems has completely evaporated. I now feel like I'm just waiting for the inevitable heartbreaking close playoff loss caused by poor coaching decisions at the end. I don't want to feel like this. I want Josh to have the coach that he deserves.

Look.....here's the thing.  I am really pissed off about how this game went down.  I hate that McDermott and the defense literally blew up an all time career performance by their superhuman QB and that he can't enjoy it.

What does it mean in the long run?  You can probably kiss the 1 seed goodbye, especially if the Chiefs beat the Chargers.  Throw on top of that, we are about to go back on the road and play the hottest team in the league next week with a pretty comparable offense that has been way better all season than what we just played tonight.  That doesn't breed a ton of excitement or confidence heading into next week and the playoffs.

Until this team finds a way to stop getting gashed in the run game, and finds the willingness to change up your defensive plan when what you're running isn't working, we aren't going to win anything.  McDermott has 4 weeks to find a way to adapt and fix things.  As much as he doesn't want to do it, or flat out refuses to do it, he has to explore fundamental changes to this defensive scheme.  This light box, soft zone, crap will never shut down the good offenses in the post season.  It never has and it never will.  Allen is the best player on the planet, but even he, with 400+ yards and 6 freaking TDs can't bail out the ineptness of the coaching staff.

I'm extremely confident going into the playoffs if we are fully healthy or as close to it as possible

I don't think another team will repeat that against our defense.

1. Declining the penalty on 3rd and 7 was clearly the correct move YOU NEED A TD TD WIN NO MATTER WHAT. Would have been 4th and 7 vs 4th and 5. Would they have kicked the FG with 7 yards needed instead of 5? Who knows., but the decision was wrong regardless.

and somehow this next one is  10000x worse.

2. You can not, under any circumstance. call a TO after the  QB sneak. Sneaking it is dumb, but if you are going to do it you tell the guys if they stop it you hurry up, spend 10 seconds getting back to the line, and run it again. The second Sean called TO the game was over.

It would have been 4th and 9. Stafford stepped out of bounds for a sack.

Yes, should've declined the penalty...and should not have called the TO. But, bottom line...the defense not stopping anything, was the reason for this loss...or, the blocked punt/TD....period. If they wanna get to the SB, then cannot make the other team only punt one time and have no take aways.
