Accepting the penalty on the Rams drive.

Then, calling TIME OUT.  Could have rushed to the line there & still been able to stop the clock.  That ended the game.  Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Our just throw 4 times there. Kick the ball deep with 3 Time outs and hope the D could actually make a stop maybe? I'm not so pissed about accepting the Holding call.

I stand by the 3 and 7 call. Accepting the penalty took the Rams out of field goal range. You get an incomplete pass the Rams are punting.

On the sneak. I think Josh checked into the QB sneak not realizing they were further than they actually were. The ball was on the 1 and a half yard line.  Not inside the 1.

We were in 2nd and long all day today

Can't live that way

It was a clear passing situation.  Clock was the most important factor

Complete pucker by McDermott.  The only chance to win is to score with 3 timeouts remaining and he’s the only person in the building not aware of that

Accepting that penalty was mind boggling dumb.

Your defense couldn’t stop them all game and you turn down 4th and 7 so they can take more time off the clock!? What!???

Yep. First decision was wrong but I can at least understand what the other side of it was and it might not have mattered.

The second decision was idiotic. It basically made the game that one play when you didn't need to. You could go 2nd and 1 pass, 3rd and 1 pass, 4th and 1 kick the FG if you needed to and the game still be alive. What you could not do under any circumstances is call time out.

They'd have even been better if they were going to try the sneak rushing back to lineup, keep the timeout, snap it and chuck it oob then kick.

The one thing you could not do there was use your time out. Once you did it was game over.

Correct.

also, very low percentage, but why do we have two guys outside with the gunner on the final punt that we need to block to scoop and score?

Not really

W 3 TOs you can just hurry to the line and run again if you want

You just can't call timeout

If the refs called false start on the second 4th down we easily could see a different outcome. Just sayin' I know McDermott going to get hate but I think making it 3rd and 17 made sense at the time.

They’ll never win ***** with this turd of a coach. If not for Josh Allen, he’d have been fired years ago. What a ***** bum

Said the exact same thing when both happened. It’s so infuriating. Expect the same ar some point in playoffs. Ridiculous.

This game drove a stake through my heart in terms of postseason confidence

We have the best player in the NFL, and this is what we have to deal with in the big moments every year

Taking the penalty is the right move, I assumed because he knew they’d go for it, but then you don’t play McD’s typical 3rd and long rally to the ball defense after that

Even with the defense collapse today, Allen still willed us to a chance to be down 2, with 3 timeouts, needing one stop… you cannot, under any circumstances, blow a TO there… I honestly cannot believe what I just witnessed.   That should be obvious to a JV coach, let alone an NFL HC

McDermott cost his team any chance of winning the second that timeout was called

Allen visibly reacted. The players knew.

You hold those 3 timeouts and give your players the chance to get a 3 and out and then win with a FG at the end

Accepting the penalty was an absolutely brain-dead decision.  Let them kick the field goal of death and give Josh the ball back down 6 with time and all 3 timeouts to win it.  You know, Josh?  That guy we keep saying is the best QB in the world?  Why are we keeping the ball out of his hands and trusting our defense that's gotten absolutely torched all game???

The real coaching mistake is playing Milano, which is only good for a few games a season to begin with. The whole defense is out of sync now. That was really stupid.

I wont have time to listen to post game stuff tonight and I know McDermott will NOT give an answer anyhow. Will someone please post any rationale why you would call a timeout? It does not make sense.

It didn't matter they were going for it on 4th.  Not to mention I'm pretty sure they picked up a couple yards and it would have been 4th and 5 exactly the same down and distance they went for it on.
