Stafford apparently is the best QB in the NFL against zone coverage based on pregame previews. Not sure how the Bills wouldn't have known that and if they did why they insisted on playing zone so much especially when it wasn't working. Edited December 9 by Big Turk 1 1 1 Quote

pigpen65 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 (edited) Reid Ferguson ended up on his back 8 yards deep in the backfield on that punt block. Outside of Tremaine Edmunds I've never seen a guy that big get moved that easily. Edited December 9 by pigpen65 1 Quote

It was true again this game. Their new DL is excellent. the Rams are 28th in rush YPG allowed and defensiveEPA/rush they are horrible vs the run Quote

Every week he does something that has never been done before..... First player ever with 3 passing and 3 rushing TD's in the same game....unreal!! Thinking about the game, while on my 2nd flight and watching the Chiefs just magically pull out another FG to win…. I was left with a few thoughts that will probably get lost in the fray of this thread. But: 1. I agree with you. Josh and the Offense is the silver lining here. The Bills offense was phenomenal. At the start of the 4th quarter, it seemed we were fated for a 2 score loss. But Josh refused to give up. Our offense can go toe to toe with anyone! And for those nitpicking a Josh throw or 2. Just stop. Stop. You cannot ask for him to do more than he did in this game. So stop. If the defense could have forced just one more FG or if they could just mount the dang ball… Josh pulls out an amazing win. So just stop nitpicking his play. 2. Going in to this game I was curious to see how the team would play. Last week was emotionally as high and as good as it can get in the regular season. Would they come out a little flat? Or would they come out like business as usual? Well… they came out a little flat. Granted… they’ve clinched the division and have a month of football still to play. So they have a little breathing room to lose focus. But, I was hoping the team would have played better from the get go. 3. I think what concerns me, and so many here, is that nearly every loss is squarely due to the defensive scheme. We just had zero answer to what the Rams were doing. And it’s in all our minds… Will the defense come out with a game like this and waste another amazing offensive performance..and our season? At some point McD has to figure out the soft zone crap just doesn’t work all game against the better QBs. Right? I want to believe. The playoffs are on the horizon and they just have to be better. 4. We don’t have to win next week, but man it sure would feel good to come out with a better game plan and execution than we just saw. I’m not ready to pull Milano, but you have to plan for him maybe not coming back to form this season. I would give Williams some reps each week to keep his head in the game. Because it may be needed. 3 Quote
paulmm3 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Absolute horror show from the defense. They shouldn't get Monday off this week. Coaching may have been the worst of it, we were repeatedly out-schemed. 1 Quote

Point 1 - you're right, but the offensive series at the end of the 2nd and beginning of the 3rd meant only a lights out offense from then on would give the Bills even a chance. We got it - particularly from Josh - but it was just too much to ask for. Execute just one and it's a different result. Unfair to ask an offense to put up 45 to win, especially without turnover assistance. Definitely. Which leads me to... Point 3 - This has been an issue with McDermott all along and he has shown no signs of changing. Why would this year be any different? 1 1 Quote

Josh could not have had a better game. Few misthrows, but some had to do with he and Cooper needing to grow together. Defense had a bad game for sure. Although a few of those catches were played just about as well as they could have been. Sometimes bend don’t break becomes bend and break. Too many holes in coverage that the rams took advantage of. Love Milano. Not sure he is where he needs to be right now. Seemed to be just on the outside of plays yesterday. When he came back earlier this year, he was favoring his leg for sure. The additional time off allowed him to rehab that better, but something is a bit off. A year off can do that. Dorian does need to be kept ready. Refs were terrible yesterday on both sides. Feel they did let a few false starts go in the Rams that may have stoped a drive. That’s all we may have needed in the end. Rams played their best game yesterday. As much as I wanted to win, I’m not going to dwell on this loss. Steelers have a very tough schedule moving forward, feel we have the 2nd seed wrapped up. 10-3 is not bad for a team that is “resetting”. Edited December 9 by davefan66 1 Quote
BeastMaster Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I don't know how any Bills fan cannot be sick to their stomach for Josh...who keeps churning out all time performances , but the coach and his supposed specialty fail in spectacular fashion. This is simply unacceptable, and something needs to change. kw I would bring Belichek in tomorrow and have him evaluate what he thinks we could do to make this defense hold it's own against the better QB's in the league Quote
Rich Stadium Original Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Hate to single out anyone in such a team defensive collapse, but a lot if the teams ills yesterday was a lack of pressure on the QB. As such, Rousseau, who is supposed to be your best lineman, was officially credited with just ONE tackle. Quote
The 9 Isles Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Milano made the defense worse, who saw that coming? Quote

Instead, we couldn’t get anything on the ground. And we really went away from it. Ray Davis with no carries! 2) Rams haven’t been all that good on 3rd down offense, but converted at an insane rate. 3) we usually play a lot of zone and go bend some break. Yet We played a lot more man, and were pretty aggressive in coverage. And it didn’t work. 4) Rams with one of the highest pressure rates, but really got no pressure on Josh. I am not sure what to make of any of this. One interpretation is that an anomalous game like this happens from time to time. When it does, it's up to the units not affected--in this case, the offense, special teams, and coaching--to step up. The offense did, but special teams and coaching didn't. In fact, they didn't even carry their weight. And that was the difference. 1 Quote
KCNC Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Don't see many people talking about the PI calls. My wife has not watched as much football as me keeps asking me to explain how the PI calls are made. I have no answer. I just tell her everyone complains about it. The call on Ingram was complete BS. Quote

Bill from NYC Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I am not young and have seen my share of football, but; I have never seen better QB play than what I saw from Josh Allen last night. Never mind the great runs, some of those passes between the defenders looked impossible to complete. The three TD passes and runs were a milestone, but they don't even begin to tell the whole story of the game that he played. Josh Allen makes his receivers look like Jerry Rice. The loss sucked but we were lucky to be in the game after giving up 44 points on the road. I have total confidence in this team for as long as Josh stays healthy. Bills fans really do deserve to have a great QB like Josh, this after decades of various degrees of suffering. 2 1 Quote
stlbills13 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Losing a cross country road game against a good team with a great coach coming off an emotional win is fine. But 2 things that concern me that seem consistent 1) lack of a pass rush in big moments 2) in game coaching blunders 1 Quote
