Who is Lewis Cine?

Practice squad safety.  2022 late 1st round pick of the Vikes after some college success in Georgia.   Was fast at the combine.  Pre draft profile

Suffered a serious leg fracture requiring multiple surgeries his rookie year 2022
Couldn't see the field on defense his 2nd year 2023 (played some on ST)

Was cut by the Vikes before the season and the Bills picked him up and put him on the PS to see what he had

Would not be a surprise if a guy with talent who suffered a devastating injury took a minute to find his way back to form, not to mention learning his way in the NFL

Would also not be a surprise if the Vikes cut him because there was nothing there

In any case, with Rapp and Hamlin playing and Bishop and Lewis healthy, this is probably a "thank you for working hard on our PS all year" game check.

2022 1st Round Pick of the Minnesota Vikings. Suffered a Compound Fracture in Week 4 of his Rookie year. Was released by the Vikings on August 27th of this year. Was originally announced to sign with the Jets Practice Squad, but changed his mind and signed with us. An interesting reclamation project. Must have looked pretty decent in Practice as i'd have assumed Kareem Jackson would be called up before him.

Yeah my initial take on this is "woah, Kareem Jackson must look pretty washed" (not a shock as Jackson is 35? 36?)

But if we're trying to give a guy who's been working hard a game check, as a vet Jackson is likely being paid a lot more on PS than Cine.

The thought I read about and heard was he was an option for big nickel as he’s powerful as an alternative on early plays meaning 1st down on run heavy teams like Baltimore if we see him in the playoffs.  No one should not want Taron on the field, but until we pull out a lead on a team like Baltimore, which forces them to the pass he’s a good option on 1st down, and if we stop the King, we shift immediately back to Taron.

Cine is 6'2", 198lbs, not LB size. He ran a 4.37 at his pro day 2 years ago. His speed may have suffered after his bad fracture, but he could be a pretty good Safety.

Currently 215 I think he’s said

My cousin’s proctologist said that he knows a guy who has intricate knowledge of the Kincaid situation and it is believed that McDermott is behind keeping Kincaid out as he is encouraging the use of 88>86 as we look to run the ball well down the stretch. The injury is healed but they are masking his absence as recovery in a way to save face and keep Knox’s snap count up.

True story. Probably.

Paywall, but what's with this team and undersized linebackers? Maybe they convert Hardy next?

Idk, another top 5 defense in ppg,  almost everymajor category. It's almost like these "undersized " LBs are the perfect size for this scheme and current NFL offenses

Glad it was Morrow who got the axe. When he played, it looked like he was running in mud.

Come on......a guy wearing OJ's number doesn't get the axe, he got "CUT"!!🔪

Who is Lewis Cine?

A former 1st rd pick out of Georgia who is a great athlete but learning to be a pro football player.  Drafted as a safety and being developed by the Bills as a linebacker.  I can see him with a special teams role against LA.  Long-term, the kid could end up as good depth.  Maybe they envision him as a hybrid S/LB to play behind Taron Johnson for running downs

One mistake this year from Beane is definitely the fa class. Obviously it's taken with a grain of salt because the dead cap issues with diggs but still. It's also from a positive lense means this rookie class looks very promising

Smoot has been really good tho which is nice

Gosh, it's like he knew he had an issue at wr all year and never addressed it

I don’t think the FA class was that bad tbh-

Curtis Samuel-  3 year- 24M-  certainly has t lived up to his contract and has been a disappointment.  He looked like a different player vs KC- so I have hopes that his toe injury was the major factor in his lack of production the first 2/3 of the season.  He can still live up to that contract.

Daquan Jones - 2 years -16M. Hasn’t lived up to the contract- but still has a chance to reap some dividends. He’s been very good in the past-  there’s hope imo.

Hollins-  1 year- 2.6M  GREAT value imo -  great role player-  incredible blocker in the run and pass game - great at running rub routes- has been a nice complimentary target and has a handful of crucial catches/TDs/first downs.

Rapp-  3 year - 10.6M. he’s been very good imo-   seemed like an overpay initially- seems like solid value now.

Smoot-  1 year - 2.5M -  had been a very solid addition- until injury.

David Edward’s-  2 year 6M-  looks like great value.

Austin Johnson- 1 year 3.5M-  overpay- but he’s made a couple splash plays.

Cam Lewis - 2 years 4M-  everyone hates on him- but he’s worth that contract imo.

Nicholas morrow- 1 year 1.1M- meh- w/e

Mike Edward- 1 year -2.8M. (1.6 gtd)  complete failure -

claypool- 25k gtd- fail but at 25K, was worth the roll of the dice.

Didn’t CMC fall on his knee the same way and he’s out for the season?

I thought he actually injured his knee in the play before when Rapp shoe string tackled

Yea I’m not surprised Morrow got let go. After Milano came back , he becomes kind of redundant as the veteran just in case guy

And when they brought him in i heard he wasn't a very good when playing in Philly more of a depth signing & like you said with Millano back now he was just a body incase another player got hurt .

My only memory of Morrow this season was getting totally burned and looking like he was running in mud vs the Ravens. They did a tiny bit of misdirection and Williams and Morrow could not handle it at all. Hoping Bernard and Milano are out there if we play the Ravens again.

Will Carter help the run defense? I don’t remember how he was doing, seems to me there were a lot of guys out when he was playing.

Carter has been better than Ed this year when healthy,

That’s my hot take.

Except Baltimore who we couldn't stop the run.
