ColoradoBills Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 It's such a great story. With all the drama and trauma in the world, it definitely gives you a smile. 3 2 2 Quote
BigDingus Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Wow, that's incredible! Imagine being an 8 year old kid, seeing a flyer & deciding to reach out to one of these programs. That took a lot of strength & maturity for someone so young. I work with elementary school kids, and many would never put themselves out there like that. Ray was a brave kid, and that's so awesome things worked out the way they did. 1 6 5 Quote

It's nice to see a story like this. Thanks for posting. 3 Quote

CBS News always has positive stories in the last 10 minutes or so of their nightly news, so I frequently flip there to see that part of the news which is why I caught the original airing of the piece on Davis. 1 1 2 Quote

Codger Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I guess I'm in the minority watching network news. Steve Hartman has this regular segment every Friday night toward the end of the CBS News half hour. Sometimes it is replayed on CBS Sunday Morning. The stories are always about something positive with good people doing good things. It's such a contrast to the rest of the negative news that gets reported incessantly. And I'm proud that a Bills player is the beneficiary of one of these uplifting stories thanks to a regular guy doing something beyond worth for a kid. 2 1 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Ray Davis’ story is right out of a movie coming from nothing and all kinds of struggles to real success. What a nice Big Brother story. McBeane really does choose the right guys for this locker room. 2 Quote
Ben Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I cant think of a single player on this team Im not proud to cheer for. That hasnt always been the case. Great story. 2 Quote

I love Steve Hartman's feel good stories. They restore my faith in humanity. This would have been a cool and uplifting story even if Ray Davis wasn't playing for the Bills. 4 Quote
JaBu Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Thanks, that's a great story indeed. I was a Big Brother in the program back in my 30's and would encourage anyone to get involved with it. As evidenced, it can have lasting rewards. 2 1 Quote
