Didn't see this coming. Why would Bill want to coach in college.

The one place where I could see him going is Navy.ย  But that position isn't open at present.

Maybe to the Jets because of the pieces they have on defense. I could see him going there and bringing McDaniels in to run the offense. Draft OL heavy and see how it goes.ย

Would love to see him in football again.ย  Obviously Brady made him, but the dude is a very good coach.ย  Best of luck to him.

ย

F THE PATS though.

He would more likely go to the Giants if ends up back in NJ. He likes and respects the Giants organization. But at his age I don't think he would sign up for a rebuild like the Giants and Jets will need. Dallas would be my guess if McCarthy gets fired.

Honestly, I've really enjoyed him in his media role this season. I think he's really good at it.

ย

As far as coaching, on the surface a step to college ranks seems like a step down. I can't see it.ย

I can't see any way Belichick would agree to work for Jerry Jones. Even if he considered it, all he'd have to do is call his buddy Parcells & ask "how'd you like coaching in Dallas?", and that idea would be squashed.

ย

If he went anywhere in the NFL, it wouldn't be a team with a meddling owner.

He talked to his buddy Saban and liked the idea of the absolute control he could have at a program.

Transfer rules and NIL money let you fix a program quickly these days too.

I'd love to see him flirt with the Jets just to leave them at the altar again though.

I bet he would be scary good in college. ย Complete control of a system, dominant D, would be awesome.

ย

I donโ€™t believe he wonโ€™t be able to land an NFL job this cycle, if heโ€™s willing to give up a little power, but heโ€™s so close to the all-time wins record, itโ€™s gotta happen. ย Giants with the #1 pick might just be the ticket.

He'd have some issues. Limited practice time would be one. Outbound transfers would be another from players who aren't interested in taking his crap. Proximity to the cheerleading team would be a third.

I donโ€™t get it if it happens. You just got rid of Mack Brown and replace him with another guy who is almost done, on top of that heโ€™s never worked with college age kids, with NIL and scholarships. It might boost recruiting a bit but how long would he actually be there

Maybe.ย  But college coaches need to be good recruiters.ย  It doesn't seem like Belichick would enjoy that part of the role - or be particularly good at it given his age and dry personality.ย ย
