BillsFanNC Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I fully appreciate the OP and the thought process. But... I remember thoughts of the stars aligning for a dream season: After 51-3 and right up to wide right. After the greatest comeback in NFL history. After the 4th consecutive AFC championship and we're back America, deal with it. Right before homerun throw forward. Right before 13 seconds. It's that history that had me taking in the recent Cincy and KC home playoff losses with numb indifference. You need to get to the playoffs to have a shot. This team has done that and I've thoroughly enjoyed the ride thus far, but I refuse to be about anything other than enjoying the journey and the next game. But if you're into pointing at the stars aligning for a team then I'd look at how KC's season has played out thus far before the Bills. 5 2 Quote

This reminds me of the famous scene from Big Bang Theory where the boys and the girls joined them and played D&D. Howard was doing imitations of Nicholas Cage, Christopher Walken, Al Pacino, and so on, but the funniest was his imitation of the Orc. All kidding aside, It’s nice to see some guys who’ve been a little skeptical actually allow themselves to get a little excited as it’s in our sites. Sure, everything has to break right, but maybe dare we dream this could be the year. I could even accept we make it to the SBagainst the Lions and have the most epic SB of all time. Even if we lost, I could still accept it as we’ve made it. If we won, I told my wife, I’d drop to the ground and would be inconsolable in joy. Quote
Steptide Posted December 5 Posted December 5 (edited) The way I look at it is, the bills have 2 games remaing that will be tough. Rams and lions. Can't see anyway that the bills lose to the Pats and jets, minus resting starters. We should beat the rams, we are the better team, but no way the lions is a gimme Edited December 5 by Steptide Quote
stlbills13 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I'm fully expecting tragic and extreme heartbreak that depresses me for months. But literally every Monday during the season for the past 4 years my dad has texted me saying he just doesn't think the Bills are as good as their record. He hasn't done that in 5 weeks now. Neither of us will acknowledge the lack of text to each other 3 1 Quote
Governor Posted December 5 Posted December 5 You need to have a top 5 defense, or at least a top 10 defense that’s playing like a top 5 defense in the playoffs to win the SB. The only way that happens is if we stay entirely healthy which has not happened in the McD era. We need a lot more things to go our way and there’s a bunch of weeks left. 1 Quote
Casey D Posted December 5 Posted December 5 A football season should be like life-- enjoy the journey and don't worry about where it ends. As an old dude, I know, it goes by too fast. We will know what happens when it happens. In the meantime, enjoy the really special season. 1 4 2 Quote
JerseyBills Posted December 5 Posted December 5 (edited) Love this, This team has stars emerging at their positions, the whole OL could be pro bowlers, especially Dawkins who is undoubtedly 1 of the best in the game at 1 of the most important position and even has a signature move, the icepick, might be a first in the OL world, but he's dominant. Brown has blossomed into an elite RT Josh, Cook,Douglas ,Benford, Bernard, Taron - all these guys are at least top 5 at their position right now. Josh , Benford, Taron , Bernard could legit be All Pros. Benford has emerged as a Beast, rarely even targeted because his sticky coverage and high football iq And the rest are up there, there's no real weaknesses on this team, it's truly unbelievable what Beane and Co did drafting and McD and Co did developing. The Bills are the gold standard in these departments. And the addition by subtraction of Diva Diggs and even Gabe, good dude but wasn't a great fit here , unfortunately, Po, Hyde and White where Rapp, Ham and Douglas are clear upgrades , this is a phenomenal locker room. It's just a selfless, tight knit, loving group man and they're an elite unit , just unbelievable by the players, coaching and FO Milano back but another testament to McBeane, how Williams filled in admirably . Carter, who was playing like a seasoned vet , will be back soon, Coleman and Kincaid will be back soon and that's really it. LFG NO INJURIES will be key! The stars are aligning for the first of many SBs with this group. Edited December 5 by JerseyBills 2 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 This has definitely been the most exciting/fun season since 2020 Admittedly I was a little skeptical about the Bills having this kind of success going into this season but I'll gladly eat crow. They have already exceeded my expectations, so I feel like we are playing with house money right now. After the last couple weeks I have crossed over into the mindsight this is a team that is absolutely capable of winning a Super Bowl but it's certainly no guarantee either. Detroit and Philly are having impressive seasons too. Baltimore worries me a little bit if we have to face them in the playoffs after how we matched up with them earlier in the season. The best news is the Chiefs look like a team that is out of gas and despite the record they have I don't think they are making a Super Bowl run this year so I feel like the AFC is up for grabs. WHERE ELSE WOULD YOU RATHER BE THAN RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW!? 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Not so fast…..The Bills have put together a really good record against a season that’s been overflowing with mediocre opponents. What was supposed to have been a daunting gauntlet of a schedule has pretty much fizzled, especially with the Jets imploding and the Dolphins losing Tua for a month. We are 1-2 against quality AFC opponents. Now I realize you can only play the teams that are on the opposing sideline but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. As others have said: enjoy the ride. But remember this has ALWAYS been about exorcising their playoff demons. 2 Quote

I knew it wouldn’t work out the way many preseason predictions had forecasted but it rarely does. However, my comment still stands….in general the Bills opponents have been WORSE than most people anticipated. In fact when it’s all over I don’t think there’ll be a SINGLE opponent that’s been BETTER, other than the Lions. 2 Quote

Winning the games they should, but 2-2 against opponents over .500 1 Quote

But at the same time, the AFC as a whole is worse than I expected and that's who we have to beat to get to the Super Bowl. In my opinion, and I'm probably oversimplifying it, as long as the Bills stay generally healthy, they are the favorites in the AFC. We can probably even withstand an injury or two as long as it's not to Allen. But I think even last year we were the 2nd best team in the AFC and that was with 6 injuries to defensive starters. Quote

Brand J Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Meh, I don’t put too much stock in our record against winning teams. The Chiefs had a LOSING record against winning teams last year and all they did was win the SB. Everything is 0-0 once you hit the playoffs, past performances are just that… in the past. Gotta play your best ball to win it all. 1 1 Quote
