Bills!Win! Posted December 5 Posted December 5 (edited) When the bills traded Diggs this past off-season, our family collectively burned my wife’s Diggs t-shirt and called it “The great reset” as we exorcised the demons and bad memories of the past. Fast forward to the beginning of the year and we became the ultimate underdogs. They may just make a movie out of this season when it’s all said and done. Think of the storylines we will look back at as our dream season comes to an end: -Our QB, a kid who gets overlooked his whole life gets engaged to a movie star/singer and plays out of his mind breaking all sorts of individual, team and NFL records and finally overcomes bias and wins an MVP. -Our RB James Cook summersaults (pun) and ascends to becoming an elite back after years of Josh Allen having to carry the team on his back. The trio of the three headed monster, flash, dash and smash will scare you out of your socks. -Our Wr’s, who were thought to be the weakest position on the roster play unselfishly after years of all the Diggs drama. The unit doesn’t even skip a beat as “everyone eats” and “free the feet” become contagious catch phrases. -Our TE’s, the DK bro’s, consist of the guy who humbly helps his successor and is playing the best football of his career with limited drops. Oh, and not to mention, his wedding sparked a new anthem for our home crowd who adopted “Mr. Bright Side, adding a strange yet exciting new Bills tradition. -The offensive line. The Schnow plow. The left side is covered by a massively overweight fun-loving goofball who plows people over yet for most of his career he has seen the haters come at him in full force. The right side is a formerly often ridiculed monster who towers over people and will knock you out if you breathe on his quarterback. The center is a former guard who many questioned could even play the position and is positioned next to the 2 most underrated players on the team. -The defensive line. Von Miller the savvy yet stoic veteran who many love to hate and hate to love, Ed Oliver, Mr. Lasso, the one bills fans wanted gone yet found away to prove the haters wrong, Epenesa and Groot, the men who the mafia called mediocre, flourish as they step up their game. -The linebackers. The heart of the team takes form in an undersized 3rd round pick who came out of nowhere and is now a star and the quiet mysterious muscle man that will come back from anything that knocks him down. The defensive backs. Rasul Douglas who was Inexplicably traded from a Good Team that thought they were rebuilding, Christian Benford the 6th round nobody who battled his way to the top of the depth chart in just his 2nd year, Damar Hamlin, the man who died and lived to tell about it and then made the pro bowl, Taylor Rapp, the backup safety who won a Super Bowl, proposed to his girlfriend and then became a lights out starter. The kicker. Tyler Bass the epitome of thick skin and resiliency… The man who overcame so much yet was loved so little. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. The coach. He had his 13 seconds of fame as the 12th man called for his head. Old faithful has let loose this year and is the best version of himself and even did snow angels. The GM. Early on many questioned his ability to build the team and acquire talent but he has proven to be a mastermind. He even looks like your typical GM would in a movie. Last but not least, the 12th man. Enough said. This year of “the great reset” has a different feel to it. I want to say what I'm thinking but I don't want to jinx it, if you know what I mean. Success Posted December 5 Posted December 5 All I know is that I haven't enjoyed a season this much since we went on that epic run after the "Hail Murray" that one season. What a blast. Feels like we're at worst one of the top 3 teams in the league, and we get to watch Josh Allen making another "what did he just do?!!!" play every single week. 4 5 Quote
zow2 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I think it’s ok to talk about it and say it. We’ve danced around Super Bowl talk for a few years trying not to jinx anything., “one game at a time, go 1-0 each week”, yada yada. We’re fans. Let’s go Bills. Finish the storybook ending for once. Win the damn Bowl. 8 3 1 Quote

BADOLBILZ Posted December 5 Posted December 5 It's a matter of opinion I guess but IMO there are championship seasons and then there are dream seasons. Bill Cowher winning his only SB "ugly" over the Seahawks was a championship season but not a dream season. Great and meaningful to Pittsburgh and for Cowher's legacy but to the rest of the league, league history and the fans? Meh. The dream season scenario requires a ton of things to align to be extraordinary, IMO. 1990 was the closest to a Bills dream season scenario to this point. 51-3 AFC championship win at home with the country united by patriotism.....poised to face the 49ers who were 2 time defending champs going for the first 3-peat with the 1989 team being arguably the greatest NFL team ever. It was going to be maybe the greatest SB match ever and the Bills were SO talented and guys like Kelly, Bruce, Thurman and Andre were all playing like like blossoming HOF'ers. It looked like a potential dynastic changing of the guard. That Bills team could have not only won a SB but have been historically significant and memorable. A little matchup snafu a few hours later, courtesy of the Giants, greatly changed the vibe of that SB and the overconfident all-time SB favorite(to that point) Bills ultimately blew that compromised version of the true dream season scenario. I think the 2020 season was the next closest dream season scenario as so many amazing and truly unpredictable things happened and it aligned where they could have beaten all-time franchise nemesis Tom Brady in a SB. I guess to some a Bills/Lions SB would be a significant matchup, but mainly because they are two frustrated franchises. To me this is just a season where they can potentially grind out an overdue SB win. Let's hope that's the outcome, that's all that matters and all that is within their control. 2 1 Quote
BigAl2526 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I'm wary of "destiny" talk. Super Bowl championships are determined on the field. There are lots of things going right for the Bills right now, and I am enjoying it immensely, but a cluster of critical injuries could still happen as can bad calls at critical moments in playoff games. I'm not trying to be pessimistic. I think a Super Bowl championship is entirely possible for this team, but I'd rather stay in the moment and take one game at a time. I want to see the Bills beat the LA Rams on Sunday. When they do that, I'll be looking at taking on the possible NFC champion Detroit Lions. 4 2 1 Quote

Brand J Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Not saying it’ll happen this year, but I always thought the Bills would win the SB in a year where no one expected them to. Also thought next year had the potential to be the strongest roster the team has seen in the modern era if Beane hit on at least 4 of his 2024 draft picks. It is looking prophetic, no doubt. 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I’ve been burned enough by sports fandom. My max enthusiasm is “cautiously optimistic”. 4 2 Quote
SoMAn Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Or the storyline goes: the heartbreak kids… “hopes dashed after losing 3 of last 5-believed to be jinxed by message board guy”. 2 Quote

It is the that time of the year...when we can ask and our wish will be granted....Go Bills !!! 3 hours ago, DapperCam said: I’ve been burned enough by sports fandom. GunnerBill Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Yea I don't believe in stars aligning. They are playing well right now. Hopefully they can keep that rolling and after that the chips will fall where they may. 3 Quote

BW, first an excellent read amongst so many doubters when we are 10-2 amd growing stronger. Against the Rams maybe, but definitely we should have our dream team with Ole,an, amd Kinkaid back along with a healthier Cooper in his wrist. Second, you’re LB assessment with how Bernard came to us as a little known 3rd RD pick, but you overlooked the other LB has gone from a part time status in 2017 to a 1st team all pro who has more impact on our defense than any other player on the team. He’s only going to keep getting stronger with each week. Quote
