TailgateChef Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Not much consensus here. I will follow this debate. I think, however, that we can all appreciate the durability of our QB while discussing. Quote

This week a blatant helmet-to-helmet hit that caused him to lose feeling down his left arm. 3rd and 6 at the 49ers 34 yard line. Josh calls his own number - QB draw. He hits a linebacker and gets held up. Here comes Fred Warner leading with his helmet and BAM! Watch Josh's head snap. Play starts at the 1:11 mark. On his TD run Josh shrugged off Warner's tackle attempt at the goal line and looked down at him like "nice try, peon." Quote
947 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Well at least Josh had the last laugh at Fred Warner's expense. Quote

Gotta wonder... It depends how many benjamins the refs were paid and by what team. This of course happens in all sports. I was watching the Golden State/Denver NBA game on Tuesday. Late in the game with Denver up by a couple points, there’s a loose ball. A Denver player dives on it, then does a complete rollover in front of a ref, which should’ve been a travel. He looks up at the ref and signals for a timeout, but Denver had used them up. It should have been a technical foul, Warriors foul shot and then their ball. Refs huddled and then called for a jump ball at center court. ???? Quote

They can have permanent neurological impacts, and declaring yourself “not s (sic) wus (sic)” won’t stop them. and helmet to helmet hits have been proven to cause concussions. I know facts are hard. Simon Posted December 5 Posted December 5 This likely explains Allen's "hand injury". I couldn't figure out on that play where in the heck he hurt his hand and the funny bone comment was clear nonsense from Josh. But the Warner shot that snapped his head probably just resulted in a burner. They're annoying for a while but there are no long term issues. 👍 1 Quote

In this case I see no cheap shot, Josh was clearly the RB on this play and he was tackled accordingly 1 Quote
MJS Posted December 5 Posted December 5 14 hours ago, todd said: Yeah, he popped him in the head, and clearly led with his helmet. Can't do that. You can call that a "football play" if you want, but the rules are pretty clear and he led with his head and hit josh in the head. Facts are facts. I would argue that it is incidental contact as part of a normal play. Here is the language at the end of the rule: "These provisions do not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or the helmet in the course of a conventional tackle or block on an opponent." It is kind of on the line to me. I certainly would not ever want to see a weak, customary play like that ever be flagged or fined. Gosh, do we want defenders to just be stationary dummies out there? Also, it is far more likely that Josh's funny bone, as he claims it, was hit by someone else or even during the fall to the ground, not due to the Fred Warner hit. 1 Quote

starrymessenger Posted December 5 Posted December 5 As great a player that he is, Warner looked flat out overmatched on Allen's TD run. Says more about Allen than it does about Warner. Quote
