Gripe: Why should I care who the opponent is if the Bills make the Super Bowl???

I never really thought about this.  But now I’m outraged.

I just think it would be cool to have two down downtrodden franchises historically playing for their first SB title against each other. Similar cities etc but I’m not so fascinated to realize that Detroit would be tough to beat and give me Atlanta or TB instead. First step is getting there even to have the chance

its the SB everyone wants for sure. 2 teams who have never won it all playing at high levels with explosive offenses. 

But I agree just take care of your own business , if you want to be the best, well then opponent does not matter!!!

Looking at the playoff machine for the NFC as of today (in no particular order):

 

Lions

Eagles

Packers

Vikings

Seahawks

Falcons

Commanders

 

Lions and Eagles are both good, although I think the Lions are much better overall than the Eagles. 

 

But this looks a lot like those years where Brady padded his ring count against the Panthers or McNabb Eagles teams.

 

It could be Bills/Falcons or Bills/Vikings or Bills/Seahawks. Something crazy often happens in the playoffs. 

 

If it's any of the above matchups I would predict a 10+ point win for the Bills

It's OK to root for the Bills and want them to stomp their opponents and ALSO to think of matchups and cool scenarios in the Superbowl. I do think it would be cool if the Lions got there, because they never have. Or if the Bills and Vikings faced off in the superbowl, since both of 4 Superbowl losses.

 

Some people enjoy NFL football, not exclusively Bills football. Yes, I root for the Bills and I'm a die hard fan of the team, but I also watch other games and follow the entire NFL landscape. That is fun for me. I don't follow any other sports, not even college football, so I get pretty invested in the NFL.

Selfishly hoping if the stars align and we make it to the big game, its not against Philly. I live in Philly and walk around pretty much every day with some sort of Bills gear on. I generally get a lot of genuine support since we're not a rival and people here seem to like the Bills, but I imagine that will all change drastically if we end up squaring off for all the marbles. Definitely don't want to be public enemy #1 here in Philly leading up to the game and if we win, and definitely don't want to deal with the gloating if we lose lol. Plus, Philly just scares the crap out of me with their elite lines, run game and pass catchers that are likely to give our defense fits.

 

Would want to see Detroit or even Minnesota, given if we lost to either of them I'd at least feel good for that fanbase getting their long-awaited title.

If we get to the Super Bowl, and my feeling is that we will, I think we would beat any NFC team that shows up - likely either the Eagles or the Lions. If we get that far, we won't be stopped.

I'll take the Bills in the Super Bowl against anybody, I'm not picky... Fk any team we play! Just get there and win. Ohhhh "battle of lake erie" man wtf! Who cares?! Just get the damn trophy. Why are so many of our fans falling into this narrative? I mean I guess it's kinda cool... but you know what's cooler?? Just getting to the Super Bowl and winning the damn game!!! I could not care less if it's the Eagles, Lions, Vikings, Packers, or Seahawks. Could not care any less! Get to the game and win. That's all that matters. Is a Super Bowl win against the Lions better than one against the Packers? No! A Super Bowl win against the Packers or Eagles would be much sweeter bc they've WON SUPER BOWLS BEFORE, especially the Packers. But just get to the GD game and WIN! That's all that matters and should matter. Anything else is weak sauce.

Im guilty of espousing of a Bills/Lions game could be a prelude to the SB, but it’s just as likely if we get past the AFC (and I think we definitely can do it), the Eagles have the most talented roster with depth.  I doubt the Packers, Hawks, or any other will get there.  It’s still going to take time, so I’m going to enjoy the wins, and go from there.

 

I like your attitude though on winning.  The last point is Detroit has been racking up the significant injuries to starters so it’s not a given.

I would be very surprised on the NFC side if the Super Bowl rep is not Detroit or Philadelphia.  I mean Green Bay could win later tonight but in January I'm not a believer in GB, Minn or anyone from the NFC West and South.

 

Obviously we desperately want the Bills to be the AFC rep, but realistically it could be any of KC, Baltimore or even Pittsburgh.   I'm saying no way for Houston, LAC and Denver.

I get the people saying, "well, if we play the Lions and lose, at least that fan base gets a win."  But I'm not like that.  I'm thinking, "crap, another team that didn't lose 4 in a row just won before us."  Similar feeling to when Denver, NE, and Tampa won.

I'll be happy for the Lions and their fans as long as they aren't playing the Bills of course.  

 

I think I used up my "I pray they don't win a SB before Buffalo" when the LA Rams came back and beat the Bengals.  I do not want the City of Cincinnati to win the Bowl before us, and they haven't yet but came darn close.
