How sad is Poyer right now that he has to suffer through Miamis rest of the season while Hyde gets a final run at a ring...

Hopefully living in Miami with millions of dollars and a supermodel wife can cheer him up.

I don't know how much stock i'd put into the idea that he would only leave sunny California for snowy buffalo if he was promised playing time.

He's going to be here two months max, as one last hoorah. It's not like he's committing to being here for 5 years.

I do expect him to start at some point but also wouldn't be surprised if is okay with coming along for the ride and seeing what happens.

Taylor Rapp being limited in practice today might have had something to do with the timing on this, although McD denied that later in his PC.

So when asked his expectations for Hyde, McDermott replied "very little. This isn't an indictment on how we feel about Hamlin, Rapp, Bishop, or Lewis". He also said he expects Hamlin and Rapp to remain starters.

Obviously, words can be empty sometimes. But McDermott has proven himself to be a pretty honest guy over the years, whose words you can usually take at face value.

Contrary to what some may want, it really DOES appear as though Hyde is here to be a leader and player/coach in the meeting room and locker room, to get one last chance at a ring, and to operate as a "break glass in case of emergency" option. Barring major regression in level of play or injury from Hamlin or Rapp, I do not expect to see Hyde lining up at safety for the Bills defense.

No, he’s awful.

Turn on the All-22, but make sure you have a barf bucket near you. Missed tackles, bad angles, slow… has good hands though - i’ll give him that.

McD and Babich have been hiding him all year and deserve COTY trophies for how well they have done it.

I'm buying that. He immediately improves our weakest D position with improved football instincts, tackling skills and understanding of the Defense. Hamlin got on the field almost exclusively for his willingness to stick opponents yet that sadly (and understandably) diminished after his on field episode.

This is a personnel addition designed to give us the best chance at winning the prize. Good for us!

A) I disagree. Retiring with a ring would put a perfect cap on an incredible career.

B) I'm sure that he knows he will have to compete for playing time. I would be pretty surprised if that weren't the case, and if it wasn't made clear to him.

Oh I have no doubt he'll have to earn it. But I think he'll be given every opportunity to do so.

When this defense is fully healthy, Hamlin is the one glaring weak spot remaining (although he has been better this year, imo).

Upgrading that spot to a better athlete and veteran like Hyde is a real upgrade to the whole unit.

I beleive Micah came here to play and I believe he will get that opportunity if he's ready.

There’s also a chance that he sees himself staying in football and using the Bills organization to climb the ladder.  He’s got a head coach personality.

I agree! He will be playing and starting over Hamlin. Sad... but true.

It’s not sad. It’s great.

The Bills aren’t signing Hyde for charity. They’re doing so because they have a weakness on the defense and they are trying to fix it.

Kudos to Beane and McD. I give them credit.

Hate it. There's a reason no other team in the NFL signed Hyde this season.

Why is this org so obsessed with bringing back old, washed-up former Bills players after they've been sitting on their couch for most of the season?

Didn't work when we brought Cole Beasley back.

Didn't work when we brought John Brown back.

Didn't work when we brought AJ Klein back.

Those guys had no business being on the field in playoff games and were an active detriment to the team. I still have PTSD from watching Klein try to cover Kelce.

Those were all desperation moves because of injuries.

I think we both know that Micah Hyde and Shady McCoy are not quite the same type of human being.

Possibly the most accurate response that could be typed as a response to this. Well done.
