I’m mixed on this.

With Edwards leaving, the Bills need someone else at safety and Hyde is the obvious choice given his knowledge of the defense. Hyde is a leader but he isn’t the player he was. Even so, I’m sure there will be a lot of internal pressure (and external pressure based on this thread 😄) to replace Hamlin with Hyde and I think that has the potential to be divisive within the team. I guess we’ll see how it’s handled.

I seriously doubt Hyde came out of retirement to be a practice squad player. I think he’s going to want to play once he’s in shape, regardless of injuries.

True.  Most teams have 4 safeties on their active roster.  Once Hyde gets acclimated, I expected the Bills to start doing the same.

And I think he'll get some reps.  But I don't think he'll start unless Hamlin or Rapp get injured.

If he does end up starting without anyone being injured, it means he's signficantly outplaying Hamlin and/or Rapp in practice and  will therefore be a game day upgrade.  Hyde won't be given anything he doesn't earn and upgrading the starting lineup is never a bad thing.

Fitz has said the Lions and Bills have the best camaraderie in the league.  Lots of Bills players talk about how tight they are.  I doubt that Hyde's position on the team will be divisive.  This is a team where players trust their coaches, believe in each other, and put the team first.  And Hyde seems to be respected and well-liked.

Who is going to be released so Hyde can play ?

Nobody necessarily. Give him 2 weeks to acclimate, PS call up in the last 3 games and PS call up for every game in the playoffs

Practice squad.  Huh.  When we re-signed Cole Beasley to the Practice Squad, it didn't have very good results.  Hopefully this results in something better.

Apparently, Deon Cain, WR, from the practice squad.

Each team gets 2 practice squad call-ups per game, who revert to the PS immediately after the game without needing to clear waivers or be signed to the 53 man roster.  Each practice squad player can be called-up 3 times.

Great to see Micah is back. Premium depth. Release of wr Dean Cain from PS means keom is back this week? less need for the depth?

He literally came out of no where on that.

I know and that was a playoff game we were winning but they were driving and I was like ut oh and then boom Pats folded after that great memory

So just curious about the rules.  So Hyde is on PS , normally if another team wants to sign a player to their 53 man roster, they can "steal" anyone off another teams PS.  Does the player have the option to say, "thanks but no thanks!" and not accept?  Or is it more like a waiver claim where player doesn't have a choice.  Probably 99% of the time the player would jump at the chance, I'd assume in this case Hyde would say no, but just wondering about the actual rule on this.

So contract wise. I wonder what is the payout here? Id hope it's low with a wink, shake, nod, fist bump, tongue kiss, and salute that he will make some back end money doing some work for the Bills once his career is over.

Thank you for the info.

Practice squad players only make 12.5k a week.

Are we saying Hyde will play for that money?

If he won't, I will.

I’d fight you for it, but I’m really tired and I have a bad wheel on my walker.

I really like Hyde as a player and even more as a person. I'm really happy he is back in any capacity. He a smart player that could help the young guys during the big moments. He will be ready to go if the moment calls for it but it will take him some time to ramp up to the December football.

As for Hamlin, the kid gets so much flack from the fans but you have to respect the kid. After everything he's gone through, he's not afraid to throw his body in the way for the team. And for that I tip my hat to him.

It's entirely up to the player if they want to make the move to another teams roster.

Nobody is swiping Micah without his permission.

If he can guide Bishop to being a solid starter next year, I’m all in. A lot of it is mental and confidence. I just hope we don’t have to watch him chase somebody down.

Most likely it’s because he hasn’t been good but people act like he is just because of his incident. The people that act like he’s good ignore the bad and argue with the people that provide proof of why he’s been bad. It gets frustrating proving the same thing over and over again.

Edit- I am one of his biggest critics. But Hamlin has been playing better the last few weeks. Not saying he’s good. Just better than he was.

It's not hating on a person if you think they are the weak link.  For most it's what we see.  We watch all the games.  I think it might be the reverse, that a lot of people here have an emotional attachment to Hamlin based on the unique circumstances and aren't evaluating his game properly.

Are you the guy who said Amari Cooper was good insurance for Mack Hollins?  That you didn't want to upset the chemistry of the 4-2 team?

Milano is not a risk.  Hyde is not a risk.  It's upgrading the defense for the stretch run and playoffs.

I think the reverse is also true… a lot of of people have a negative opinion of Hamlin based on past play.  And aren’t seeing the contributions he’s making to a playoff caliber team, currently.   I stand by my original premise… Hamlin will not be benched in favor of Hyde.

Cooper was totally different.  We needed a WR to fill a specific need.  He does that.   And compliments our existing WR room very nicely.  But it’s interesting  Hollins is brought up… considering how many posters complained about him back in Sept.
