bigduke6 Posted December 4 Posted December 4 zero issue with this. does seem a bit late though. would've thought he'd come in before the bye then use the extra time to get back into things. maybe its been the plan all along, or maybe something has changed on the backend we dont know about yet. either way, cant hurt. Turn on the All-22, but make sure you have a barf bucket near you. Missed tackles, bad angles, slow… has good hands though - i’ll give him that. McD and Babich have been hiding him all year and deserve COTY trophies for how well they have done it. 2 Quote
frostbitmic Posted December 4 Posted December 4 I'd be surprised if McBeane and Hyde hadn't come to this kind of agreement over the Summer. Sign to the PS in December and be ready to go by the time the playoffs roll around, just in case. As far as Hamlin is concerned, he has performed better than any other Safety on the team not named Rapp. If Hyde comes in and is better right away, he'll get elevated from the PS and will play some. 2 2 Quote

I'm saying the potential to get a ring playing on the team he spent so many years on would make it worth playing a backup roll for Hyde. That is no knock on his competitiveness whatsoever. Quote
TheWei44 Posted December 4 Posted December 4 How did Hyde perform last couple games of regular season and playoffs last year? Putting the benefit of rest/healing aside, that's a pretty good indication of how he'll play this year, including playoffs. I ask because it's kind of a blur to me - I vaguely recall him playing well and Poyer being way too slow! Quote

SageAgainstTheMachine Posted December 4 Posted December 4 There’s absolutely no way he would sign unless he’s been promised that he’s replacing Brandon Beane as GM by Week 16. 2 Quote

Hyde and Poyer were a huge part of this team turning the corner. Now Hyde can come back and help win the Lombardi, Poyer is in Miami helping the Dolphins suck. ... Win win Quote

Retiring with a ring would put a perfect cap on an incredible career. B) I'm sure that he knows he will have to compete for playing time. I would be pretty surprised if that weren't the case, and if it wasn't made clear to him. 1 Quote
stevestojan Posted December 4 Posted December 4 There is literally zero downside to this move. Even if he is solely a leader to the developing DBs, it’s a win. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he played in a couple weeks. Great, safe, low-cost move. 1 1 1 Quote
Einstein Posted December 4 Posted December 4 12 minutes ago, Simon said: You think a wealthy veteran signed a cheap deal to come back here and stand around in a Buffalo winter to watch somebody else play? Not buying it. Exactly. It won’t be this week, but Hyde will be starting by the playoffs. Hamlin will be on the bench. McD will downplay it for the next week or so though. Quote

JMM Posted December 4 Posted December 4 " So it comes down to this for Hurts and the Eagles, down by 4 and needing a td. Last chance. Goes back to pass, steps up and throws..and...ITS INTERCEPTED BY HYDE! HE GOES DOWN, and that's it. THE BUFFALO BILLS WILL WIN THE SB!!!: Hey, a guy can dream, but wouldn't that be SWEET? 😊 2 1 Quote
