Blackbeard Posted December 4 Posted December 4 If he DOES come back, in some capacity, and we end up winning it all, it would be so cool he was part of it. Side note: POYER IS DEAD TO ME.
BigAl2526 Posted December 4 Posted December 4 "Unsubstantiated rumor" is almost redundant. If it happens, I could see Hyde being on the 53 man roster rather than the PS, but he's not going to start for the time being.
boyst Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Those thinking he needs time to get back into shape don't get a few things... First, is that it's Hyde and he's likely stayed in shape because he is just that kind of dude. Id bet he even has kept football training up, too. And the most important thing is that these guys, especially ones like Hyde, are elite levels athletes that don't need the training, and work any other athlete would need. These guys already have the "it" factor. The rust would be moving with the velocity in games/situations, and the mental refresh. If Hyde wanted to I would bet he could return to the team and be game ready in 2 weeks.
TheWeatherMan Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Confused as to why so many want Hyde back on the roster. He looked completely cooked last year plus we have a promising rookie on the active roster and 2nd year safety on the PS.
Einstein's Dog Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Yes to Hyde. And the bringing him back is done with the intention to work him into the starting lineup for the playoffs! Apparently people aren't seeing the same thing as I am from the game action. Hamlin is the weakest link. Much like the "WRs quietly got better" theory, we now have to go through the excuse factory of people working themselves into believing having Hamlin out there isn't a liability. Hamlin is being hidden in a good defense much the same way as G Davis was hidden last year in our decent offense. 1

One thing I've heard over and over and over again from pro football players and coaches alike is that there's "in shape" and then there's "in football shape", and they are not the same. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the physical fitness aspect is that big a part of all this. I think if he joined the team, say, tomorrow, then 2-3 weeks of practicing with the team and spending time in the training room would be perfectly sufficient. Still, I think it's important to point out that the level of physical fitness one can attain by working out regularly at home is different than being in "football shape", as I understand it. 1
Man with No Name Posted December 4 Posted December 4 if we get hyde back this week, the point is for him to be at his best 5 weeks from now. that will not be a problem. and hyde at his best is still 100% better than hamlin. 2

I can see your point. But the offset to that is the adage that at this point in time they say all players are dealing with some type of injury. Not so with Hyde, he comes in injury free. Secondly. Hyde is a multi-year veteran so the getting into "football shape" should take a little less time.

Rubes Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Wonder if he is thinking of retiring after this season and the Bills just want to give him a last chance at being around the team and possibly contributing in a pinch if needed. Or maybe they're not super happy with the backup situation?
eball Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Does anyone think there is one person in the Bills' locker room (Hamlin included) who would question Micah being inserted into the starting lineup if he shows he is in football shape? I don't. There is nothing but upside to this move. 1

Or maybe they're not super happy with the backup situation? Or maybe Hyde is a very good safety and they are looking for a starter over Hamlin! The FO is upgrading its weakest link on Defense. This Defense is going to be awesome. I anticipate Hyde starting the last 3 games - NE/NYJ/NE and the D will be going to town.
