Just wait until the playoffs, then you will understand or you won't but it has happened every single year.

It's not about this game. It's about a pattern of horrid almost unbelievable coaching moments near the end of close games. We laugh when Matt Eberflus and Antonio Pierce's teams fail in these moments, but our coach is no better. If you can't see that, I don't know what else to say.

Do you think that pile could have gotten up and lined up quick enough to have enough time with no timeouts left to drive down the field?  Honest question.

BTW there is legit criticism of him for this loss.  I agree with you to some level.

shoop and bulldog defending McD is hilarious.  McVey is awful on 4th down (okay). somehow that makes wasting a minute by declining the penalty a non-issue

The defense lost this game. One debatable playcall didn’t.

contributed to it.  That is a minute for our offense to have it at the end of the game. And who got the D players in the draft and FA. And whose D strategy was it?

Now these morons are even defending the D.

It’s easy pickings right now for both sides but this was the first time I’ve ever seen Josh visibly upset by a McD miscue for what it’s worth.

Covered it up quick and gave hugs and ***** because our boy’s a pro, but Allen was visibly perturbed for just a second

I think our QB literally broke records tonight and we lost the game. I think our head coach's side of the ball stunk out loud. I think our head coach made an unjustifiable decision to take a 4th and 7 off the board (for multiple reasons). I think our head coach's unbelievable decision to call a TO at the end cost us even a small chance of winning.

You're alone on this one man. Everybody saw the game. Everybody has seen something like the end of this game a dozen times under McDermott. It's over. He isn't going to suddenly figure it out after 8 years. He was the guy to get us moving uphill, he is absolutely not the guy to get us over the mountain. He cannot be allowed to continue to waste an all time great QB.

Someone asked him at the presser if he made an audible and he said "no I did my best to execute the play that was called." Of course because he's Josh he took the blame for not getting into the endzone there but yeah I could tell he was a bit bothered about it all. How many times can he watch his own greatness be erased by horrendous coaching before he decides to continue his career elsewhere?

No, it’s crazy how people who don’t know the first thing about football will defend an indefensible management of the game.

Please tell us how that was a brilliant timeout and that we were so lucky to have someone of his caliber on the sideline there.

The guy has done absolutely nothing to improve himself as a coach for 8 years. Had never put in a single days work to better himself as a game manager and you want to call other people idiots for pointing out him calling a timeout that a 10 year old wouldn’t have. Get over yourself.

You're going off of 1 play, which I disagreed with but go off of 1 play is ridiculous,  How about Babich giving up 44 to a team that barely touched 30 points and taking 3.5 quarters to make proper adjustments

420+ combined yards and 6 touchdowns, am I reading this right? Modern day Patty could never. A W would make him easy MVP front runner.

In front of his parents, family, and original home crowd essentially. Playing on his original home turf anyway.

and for it all to be taken away by a coaching call that my 8th grade modified coach would have correctly made.

Everybody has their limits.

I really want to like McDermott. He got the stink out of OBD which was a Herculean effort and I will always appreciate him for that. But he can't execute in the critical moments that Super Bowl winners need to execute in multiple times over the course of their run. 13 seconds is the most talked about moment but there have been a dozen like it over the years. At some point we just have to accept it is a fatal flaw and he will never overcome it.

Don’t be scared anymore. He is who he is. If you accept it, the fun goes away but so does the fear.
He will never get us there.

Even putting aside the multiple all-time brain farts, you can't have a defensive head coach and end up with a historically embarrassing result like this. It just can't happen.
