Yes-  and you know who else has had bad coaching moments in the playoffs?  Sean McDermott-  and it’s reason we are talking about this.

just so happens McD has proven to be able to beat Reid and Mahomes on a regular basis.  While the guy you’re opining for has a .000 winning percentage against them.  The reason he has 2 Super Bowl appearances under his belt is because he doesn’t have to face Mahomes in the conference playoffs.

Your only defense is “but the QB”.  Yes, McDermott has helped develop a super talented raw prospect into the best player in the league.  Shanny had a chance to develop a similar prospect and he’s now a bum. Who knows what would’ve happened if he had Allen.  Would he have failed in developing him like he did with Lance?  We don’t know-  McDermott developed Allen- and succeeded.

The only ammo you are bringing to this gunfight is “but shanny doesn’t have Josh Allen”.   You’re right, he doesn’t.  And we’ll never know what he can do with him.  But we can pretend ….and that will tell us who’s right…… and if you don’t pretend-  then you’re a hostile coward 🤣

the offensive guru that doesn’t have the offensive horse he needs to win it all vs the defensive guru that doesn’t have the horse he needs to win it all.

McD is a defensive HC that has put the majority of his resources into the D. Those defenses have been ravaged with injuries the last 2 seasons (3 if you include not having our best player, cornerback, in the 13 sec debacle).  We can pretend to know how good McDs defenses would’ve been with bosa, armstead, Hargrave, warner and co.  We know he can make lemonade out of lemon DBs.

but none of that matters…..  it’s fantasy land.  What we KNOW is McDermott HAS actually had much better success vs reid and Mahomes than shanny.  In fact, he’s the only one of the two to have ANY success vs Reid and Mahomes.  But Josh Allen….. which brings us back to fantasy land.

My real interests are philosophy, theology, and literature. Edmund Husserl, who is the father of modern phenomenology, proposed a method whereby one "bracketed" factual reality, and imagined possible variations. Hence, one might be looking at a house with cedar siding painted green. Now imagine it is painted white instead. Now imagine it is much larger or smaller, brick or stucco instead of wood, etc. Ultimately, one aimed at the most comprehensive range in which a concept for "house" might be valid.

The counter-factual can be illuminating, but it can only suggest. Fiction is a way of probing not only the possible ranges, but also investigating aspects of the factual that do not easily reduce to the quantifiable. Regardless, it can be useful, though naturally all it can do is suggest. I do think health of the D was obviously the issue last year. I also think if you give Chris Jones to the Bills, we have at least one Super Bowl ring.

Lmao.

“My opinion is that Shanny + Allen or another HoF QB would be unstoppable.”

”You’re living in fantasy land, childish idiot!”

Embarrassing stuff.

Another shining McD scheme moment on display right now🤷‍♂️

Can you believe I have the gall to believe that a superstar offensive coach like Shanny or McVay would be successful in Buffalo?

McDermott had absolutely nothing to do with Josh’s development. If anything he held him back

I've avoided this thread. It was made during a run of beating some

bad teams and a really good team

that is playing not so great. Saying anything negative about McD during that time would get ya flamed. My answer has always been NO it hasn't changed. Bills D is what we always say about Miami. Good against bad teams but folds against good ones.

He is the modern day Marty Schottenheimer.

We are wasting a generational talent in Allen with this bum because he makes the playoffs every season.

If it wasn’t for Allen the Bills would be in the same boat as the Raiders and Jets right now.

There are a lot of problems this Rams game. Josh is pressing. The Rams are making insane plays every third down. Rasul is getting cooked. Epenesa is getting cooked. The DL is invisible.

Personally, this doesn’t make me love or hate McDermott. My issues are his performance in the playoffs, to which I’d just say:

We’ll see.

Why couldn’t he help Peterman then. He drafted him instead of Mahomes and started him 3 separate times on purpose. Plenty of time to coach him up

Good lord.
