Dec. 3, 2017 - NE @ Buffalo - Gronk’s Dirty Hit

Seven years ago today, Gronk lost his cool and hit Tre White with his bionic arm. 
 

He got suspended for one game without pay. 
 

After seeing Al Sharia’s hit on Trevor Lawrence earn him a 3-game suspension, I think Gronk’s penalty was appropriate.

I am glad the Bills fanbase is no longer in that whiny bichass sore loser mode like back then.    The exaggerated outrage over that hit was akin to that mom who claimed her daughter was thrown down the stairs at the game the other night.   There were jackasses that wanted Gronk to do prison time for a hit that wouldn't be in the top 10 of collisions in any given game.   Just because it was "premeditated".   As if what happens in the game is never premeditated.

I was at this game, the first live one I’d attended in a couple years.  The Gronk hit really distracted from what was otherwise the most boring game in football history.

Gronk's move wasn't a football play, it was breaking a bottle over the back of someone's head at a bar. Al-Shabab was more like using knucks in a fight on a guy who already tapped, also a scumbag move but tangentially within the framework of the event.

It was a scum bag move, but were it not a Bill he did it to, it likely get no run in here. He doesn't have a history like Al Shaair.

I agree with this... assuming Sharia's was not intentional... Gronk actions were with intent to injure.

The Gronk hit was worse because it was well after the play.

Tre was laying face-down on the turf, out of bounds, the whistle had blown the play dead. Gronk did an elbow-drop straight out of the WWE, while wearing a huge metal brace. That is worse than any hit that happens within the context of a play, legal or not.

I think there's a big difference between a dirty hit during a play, and elbow-dropping a prone player, from behind, with a metal brace, in the back of the player's head after the whistle. I am of the opinion that the league did not take those aggravating circumstances enough into account.

Agree. Utterly dirty hit that has no place in the game.
