DaBillsFanSince1973 Posted December 3 Posted December 3 I read his HC blamed lawrence for the hit, lmao Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted December 3 Posted December 3 He should have been suspended for the remainder of season including playoffs. Quote

Al-Shaair comes to basically a full stop to adjust his attack angle to account for the slide lol That pic above captures the moment perfectly as Al-shaair was starting his late lunge knowing Lawrence was sliding it was a monumentally dirty play. There are definitely plays where a guy is flying in to make a tackle not knowing a slide is coming that are unfortunate but not dirty. This wasn’t one of them Edited December 3 by Generic_Bills_Fan 4 Quote

Al-Shaair was standing up when Lawrence was starting to go down and then he decided the best thing to do was launch himself with his head and forearm leading? The point is, Lawrence is down where he begins his slide… which was 6 yards away from where Al-Shaair was standing. Well short of the marker - there was literally no reason for the player to do that. I’m pretty convinced the defenders of that hit saw it once and never watched it again lol. It really was egregiously dirty and easily avoidable at minimum. I don’t think anyone likes when guys are flagged for unnecessary roughness when they start their tackle before they know a slide is coming but that isn’t the case here at all 1 1 Quote

Lawrence was short of the 1st down line and ~4 yards from the defender when he started the slide. It might've been difficult for Al-Shaair to avoid all contact, but he made the choice to launch forearm first at Trevor's head. 3 game suspension is well deserved IMO can't hit players with your forearm! it's too dangerous!!!111 Quote
CNYfan Posted December 3 Posted December 3 This is without pay? Miles Garrett got the remainder of the season (indefinite) when he swung Mitch's helmet at Mitch. Quote

JP51 Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Dude was intentional at worst, negligently reckless at best. Love the message... 3 games your done, no pay. Stay in control and dont hit a sliding QB... I can say this... if someone hit JA17 like this... we would be calling for an immediate execution of the person and anyone they knew LOL... no place for that crap in this game. 1 Quote

EDIT: Here is where Lawrence starts his slide, which by rule, is where he is down. Al-Shaair is the guy by himself standing on the 0 of the 40 yard line. Lawrence's position in that image looks very similar to a play I saw in the playoffs last year that was not a slide....cant quite place which play that was though....... Not sure if it was the last time, but Kareem Jackson was suspended 4 games last season for this hit on (former Bill) Logan Thomas. He had been fined the previous week for a similar hit.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNOUY3oUK7k edit: somehow Thomas still makes the catch. Edited December 3 by Steve O Quote

I think he should have been arrested and banned from the NFL for life. I agree with you it was negligent and reckless at best... (not sure if I agree with the lifetime ban lol) and as far as the foo foo thing you were responding to... wonder if the same thing were to be said if it were Josh Allen taking that shot.... or the QB for which the person saying that is rooting for... sorry... like you I am not not buying into the faux macho BS. Yeah, I don’t see it. Lawrence is lowering himself to the ground. Allen just planted his right leg and is changing direction after chopping his feet to make an attempt to change direction. You don’t chop your feet to slide lol Edited December 3 by JGMcD2 Quote

Given all of the protections the NFL has put in place for QB's going head hunting while tackling a QB & it resulting in a concussion 3 games doesn't seem like a lot to me . If this would have been against Mahomes, Borrow, Lamar, & especially Josh and put them out for 2 or 3 games we all would have been calling for this guy to be suspend him for the rest of the season . It was a purposeful cheap shot to his head, three game suspension is nothing if the league is actually trying to stop that sort of thing, first offense should be a minimum of three games, and likely four games if they are making a concerted effort to stop that behavior. I mean, I agree he will get a bit knocked off but I think you might be swinging too far the other way with the waited until the last second to slide narrative. If you have to have a 10 yard buffer to slide it’s a meaningless rule Quote
