Al-Shaair comes to basically a full stop to adjust his attack angle to account for the slide lol  That pic above captures the moment perfectly as Al-shaair was starting his late lunge knowing Lawrence was sliding 

 

it was a monumentally dirty play.  There are definitely plays where a guy is flying in to make a tackle not knowing a slide is coming that are unfortunate but not dirty.  This wasn’t one of them

The point is, Lawrence is down where he begins his slide… which was 6 yards away from where Al-Shaair was standing. Well short of the marker - there was literally no reason for the player to do that. 

I’m pretty convinced the defenders of that hit saw it once and never watched it again lol. It really was egregiously dirty and easily avoidable at minimum.  I don’t think anyone likes when guys are flagged for unnecessary roughness when they start their tackle before they know a slide is coming but that isn’t the case here at all

Dude was intentional at worst, negligently reckless at best. Love the message... 3 games your done, no pay. Stay in control and dont hit a sliding QB... I can say this... if someone hit JA17 like this... we would be calling for an immediate execution of the person and anyone they knew LOL... no place for that crap in this game.

Al-Shaair is the guy by himself standing on the 0 of the 40 yard line. 
 

Lawrence's position in that image looks very similar to a play I saw in the playoffs last year that was not a slide....cant quite place which play that was though.......

Lawrence is lowering himself to the ground. Allen just planted his right leg and is changing direction after chopping his feet to make an attempt to change direction.

Given all of the protections the NFL has put in place for QB's going head hunting while tackling a QB & it resulting in a concussion 3 games doesn't seem like a lot to me .

 

If this would have been against Mahomes, Borrow, Lamar, & especially Josh and put them out for 2 or 3 games we all would have been calling for this guy to be suspend him for the rest of the season .

It was a purposeful cheap shot to his head, three game suspension is nothing if the league is actually trying to stop that sort of thing, first offense should be a minimum of three games, and likely four games if they are making a concerted effort to stop that behavior.

I mean, I agree he will get a bit knocked off but I think you might be swinging too far the other way with the waited until the last second to slide narrative. If you have to have a 10 yard buffer to slide it’s a meaningless rule
