JGMcD2 Posted December 3 Posted December 3 When was the last time the league suspended someone like this? 3 games feels like a lot. 1 6 Quote
Johnnycage46 Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Pretty stiff penalty. Sucks that he'll miss the KC game...but Houston just seems like such a fraud that I doubt they had much of a chance against KC anyway. 2 Quote
eball Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Houston wasn't going to beat KC anyway. The Chargers and Steelers will do that for us. 1 1 1 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted December 3 Posted December 3 He will likely appeal and get a game or two shaved off. I'd bet only one as this isn't the first time he's been in trouble for latel hits Quote

Maybe next time he does this someone ends up a paraplegic, and the league has to pretend that there wasn't ample evidence to suggest that he was going to keep being a cheap shot artist. At any rate, like anything else, it'll take someone suing the league for a few billion dollars after they lose the use of their legs before this sort of thing is taken seriously. Al-Shaair is lucky im not in charge of his punishment because he'd be in for at least the balance of the season 2 1 1 Quote

boyst Posted December 3 Posted December 3 ridiculous. he will rightfully appeal and the nflpa will get it reduced. you can't hit a QB anymore. if he was still running it would have been a rightful hit. lawrence waited until the last minute to slide and therefore the helmet to helmet was unavoidable, unfortunately. it was a bad hit, and it was a penalty but it is not that bad of a penalty to suspend him 3 games. some foo foo pansy ball crap right there. 1 3 7 2 Quote

When was the last time a player intentionally went to injure a Quarterback? It almost never happens. I think 3 was too light. I'd have banned him for the rest of this season. 1 2 4 Quote
eball Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Am I remembering incorrectly, or did this guy have some questionable hits against the Bills earlier this year as well? 2 1 Quote

If he wasn't playing football he'd be in the slammer 1 1 1 Quote

I've seen the 'late slide' comment thrown around (including from the HOU coach) but I really don't see it. Lawrence was short of the 1st down line and ~4 yards from the defender when he started the slide. It might've been difficult for Al-Shaair to avoid all contact, but he made the choice to launch forearm first at Trevor's head. 3 game suspension is well deserved IMO 4 1 Quote

Lawrence started his slide late? He started his slide at the 47 yard line and Al-Shaair was on the 41. Al-Shaair was standing up when Lawrence was starting to go down and then he decided the best thing to do was launch himself with his head and forearm leading? The point is, Lawrence is down where he begins his slide… which was 6 yards away from where Al-Shaair was standing. Well short of the marker - there was literally no reason for the player to do that. EDIT: Here is where Lawrence starts his slide, which by rule, is where he is down. Al-Shaair is the guy by himself standing on the 0 of the 40 yard line. Edited December 3 by JGMcD2 1 1 Quote

I couldn’t disagree more. It was an obvious attempt to injure Lawrence. I think he should have been arrested and banned from the NFL for life. 2 3 1 Quote
