Week 14 - Bills at Rams Game Week Thread

The key, I think, is continuing to play mistake free football.   No turnovers is the single most important concept this weekend.  

 

I trust our D just enough, but no errors, no extra outs.

I think the Rams are going to run up the gut nonstop and dink and dunk us down the field with simple passing plays. I suspect a close game on this one and may even come down to a game winning FG or whoever has the ball last.

 

I feel a lot better with our chances with the Lions, as i think the Bills will step up and match them right across the board, however, the Rams although not scary or threatening, will come out swinging and i don't know how the Bills will react riding so high right now........i'd like to believe that we punch them right in the mouth, early and often, but i'm not so sure.

This is why the Bills have not had an unexpected loss so far this season. Ever since McDermott came here, the D has been consistent in regular seasons, I'd say not super dominant, but not terrible. This year is just like others, having only one terrible defensive game - the Ravens' game - with a bad matchup and injuries. In the past where the offense is heavily relied upon Josh Allen being superman or playing well, when his playing levels dipped, you see some ugly losses (Jags game 2021, Vikings game 2022, at Jets last year, etc.). This year, Josh really improved his decision making resulting much lower turnovers. And the running game (Cook, O-Line) took a lot of pressure away from him. The offense performance has a steady feel to it. So when we face an interior team, when you don't give away gifts, the better team typically win.

The Rams are a solid team but they actually remind me a bit of the Dolphins. Over exposed against top teams and they don't really have a home field advantage. They're better coached and more cohesive than the Rams but they've struggled against the teams that matter. 

 

All that said, this is still a tough game. The Rams are in must win territory the rest of the way. They have a good run game and 2 solid WR's. The o-line is weak but the d-line has some playmakers. This is a tougher game than @Indy but probably easier than @Seattle IMO. But it will still take a strong performance to win.

I'm not saying we will lose, i'm saying that this game may be a lot tighter than people would believe.......i'm hearing how the Bills will steamroll the Rams, however, i think it may be a little closer than most would like to think.

This is hardly must win territory for the Rams.  If you think Seattle will drop one of their games against GB or Minn (pretty reasonable), then LA still has control of their own destiny if they lose to us.  They can win the rest of their games (again assuming Seattle drops one of those games) and they will win the division.  It really helps that they still play each of their divisional opponents left.  Those are the must win games.  They could drop either game against us or the Jets and still have a great shot at the division (only needing one more Seattle loss).

Coming off a big Sunday night primetime win that clinched the division and has everybody feeling pretty good about themselves?

There's some potential for them to show up in sunny southern California and realize too late that they left their edge back in Buffalo.

This sentiment totally makes sense and most years I'd agree with you 100%.  But this year just feels different to me.  The entire team seems locked in at a level I'm not accustomed to and despite what they might say publicly, I can just about guarantee you they want the 1 seed and a first round bye just as much as we do.  I think they will continue to play inspired football.

Maybe, but that's probably dependent on what the Chiefs do between now and then.

If the Bills are playing for the #1 seed at that point, they might accidentally kill somebody.

I agree that this team feels different.

It's just hard to shake the BBFS
