But the Bills offense is weird, which is why opposing fans don't worry (but I think they should). It doesn't SEEM like the Bills are doing a lot and then end up with over 30 pts every game. Last game there was the Cook run and the lateral so some really exciting plays, but even after the Chiefs game I heard mutterings (on this board and elsewhere) that the Bills offense still didn't look that great. Yet they put up 30 on a Chiefs d that hadn't given up more than 28 in two years. It doesn't look like they are doing a lot and then you look up at the scoreboard and "Hmmmm, they put up 30 again." 3 Quote

I'm not saying the current Bills are like the Patriots, but I remember several years during the Patriots runs where I would watch their games and be thinking "they aren't even that good!" and yet they just kept winning. This year's Bills make me feel that way. There are flashes of amazing play, but generally it FEELS like we aren't doing much on O but then we get to 30 each week. I think it's because we have an efficient O that has TD drives vs. TD explosive plays (except here and there). 1 Quote

The offense is kind of a victim of the defense/turnover differential (in a good way lol). They don’t really have to do much in a good chunk of second halves and just run out the clock. Some of it is how were defended too, teams are basically daring Josh to get impatient so we just go down the field with short plays if we have to Quote

It’s amazing, really, that the fans who do the most pooping on the Bills are people who call themselves Bills fans. And by the way… anyone seen this guy lately? 3 Quote

I think the bills have a very good offence, but I don't think they have an elite offence. (I think they are 18th in pass yards per game, granted their starters sit sometimes in the 4th) Why they get 30 plus points IMO is because the turnover margin. They take care of the football and their defence takes the ball away and sets them up with short fields. So a very good, efficient offence I would say that also benefits from the bills defence who has been amazing at taking away the football and giving them extra opportunities Quote

One of the gambling experts on ESPN this morning thinks the Rams will be much tougher in this game than the public is giving them credit for. I can't get past the fact that Miami's defense made Stafford and that offense look terrible just a few weeks ago in a primetime game. Edited December 6 by zow2 Quote

Turnovers have benefitted the offense quite a bit. But the offense is still evolving. Allen is developing chemistry with Cooper, and Coleman was really coming on before his injury; if he resumes his trajectory, that's another nice weapon for Allen. Throw in a returning Kincaid and a revived Knox, the receiving corps is likely to be significantly better down the stretch than it has been to date. Meanwhile, the line is rock solid, and the three-headed running game looks great. In short, they're peaking at the right time. I'm eager to see how the perform in perfect conditions the next two games. Still, I'm so pleased that Babich is pushing turnovers. Defensive turnovers were a big part of the Super Bowl teams of the early 90's. 3 Quote

I think part of what people underestimate about the Bills offense, and what people don't fear about it, is that it IS unusual. It doesn't have an exciting, signature, fancy, innovative scheme to hang its hat on. It doesn't wow you with exotic motions and advanced passing concepts. It's not a dazzling, bomb-it-down-field passing offense or a Greg Roman style exotic/dominant running offense. What it IS is malleable and effective. The first thing the Bills want to do is trot out two tight ends or a 6th offensive lineman and run the ball down your throat. If you sell out to stop that, they'll hit you with play-action chunk plays. If you stop all of THAT and force them to spread it out, they're willing. If you wanna operate our of a deep shell, they'll dink and dunk you to death. If you wanna throw exotic blitzes at them, they'll hit WR screens to Shakir all day. No matter what you want to do, Joe Brady is gonna diagnose it and give Josh Allen some "easy button" answers, and the Bills are gonna methodically move the ball and score more often than not. You're gonna see either a touchdown celebration or a Tyler Bass field goal much more often than you're gonna see a Sam Martin punt. Then all of a sudden, you're gonna look up at the scoreboard and see that the Bills hung 30 on you. "malleable and methodically effective" doesn't scare people. 6 o-lineman and running Duo again and again doesn't grab headlines. But for all the glitz and glamour it lacks, the Bills offense just continues to attack you in whatever way you've left yourself susceptible to, and to the tune of lots of points and lots of wins. Meet the boring but deadly 2024 Buffalo Bills offense. Edited December 6 by Logic 8 1 1 Quote

I think Allen hanging out with Tom Brady probably helped a bit in the off-season The Allen game against Seattle on the road looked like a classic 2011 Patriots game 1 Quote

Sestak4ever Posted December 6 Posted December 6 One aspect of offense that I would like to see more of is passes to our running backs, especially off of play action. I think that is an added dimension which would drive defensive coordinators crazier than they are, trying to stop us. All of our running backs are excellent receivers. Go Bills!! Quote

Haha. I think the turnovers put the offense in a position where they don’t really have to do much in the second half of a lot of games now. I think they would rise to the occasion should they get into a shootout though I don’t think the yards/game type stats are a great indicator of how the offense is playing imo…I think the redzone td percentage is a much more important thing to be lookin at can’t see the DVOA offensive rankings without a paid account now lol but I’d think we’re in the top 5 Edited December 6 by Generic_Bills_Fan 3 Quote
Sojourner Posted December 6 Posted December 6 11 hours ago, Richard Noggin said: I think you're actually stating something different than your intention here. If you say a team won BY a certain number of points, you're actually highlighting the point differential. What we see here would suggest those Giants teams won the last two playoff games of each of those seasons BY a margin of 20 points each. Which would be outright dominance, rather than the close, one-score games they actually won. Semantics 🧐 Youre right. Was worded wrong. 🧐 1 Quote
